I find this Craigs list add hilarous

This was just posted on my local craigs list:

Title is “HORSES OWNERS…look here”

"HELLO I AM LOOKING TO RIDE FOR ONE DAY WITH A HORSE not LESSSONS JUST WANT TO RIDE. not IN A LITTLE PIN!
please name a price and where i would be riding?
thank you :] "

Then someone posted a new add with this title: “To the person who wants to ride a horse for one day”

"Can you please explain to me why you seem to think that a horse owner would feel it is a good idea to let you, a stranger, ride an animal that takes us much time and money to care for, train, and maintain? Your most recent posting suggests that you are insulted by someone’s suggestion that you could ride in an arena.

Do you really think anyone would just let you take their horse out for a joy ride when you have not mentioned any experience or abilities that would lead someone to feel confident handing over their animal to your unknown hands. It is like handing someone on the street the keys to your sports car because they want to go for a joy ride and assuming they will not 1.) do damage to the car, 2.) do damage to the property/ neighbor’s property, 3.) do damage to themselves. There is a reason why people must first take lessons on a horse before most people will even lease the animal out on a contract. Many stables that at one time leased horses out for an hour or day will no longer do it because the instances of the either the horse or rider being injured were to high.

I suggest you take a few lessons from someone to instill confidence in your ability to handle the animal or accept a ride on in animal, whether it be in an arena or on a trail, while the owner is there to observe your abilities. If you approach the matter with more willingness to work with someone you may actually get a chance to ride. "

There have been so many times that I have wanted to email a poster on Craigslist and ask them what in the hell they are thinking. Some people crack me up!

You know I almost replied to the original add to ask the person a few questions, maybe find out if this was a teenager or something. Being as when people type up their thoughts it does not always come out clearly in text. Thought maybe I would give them the benefit of the doubt, but after reading so many horror stories on this board of all kinds of crazy people out there, I decided against it.

But like the other person said with their listing, its just dangerous to have a stranger come and ride your horse. That’s just a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I’d just tell them I don’t have horse small enough to ride in a “little pin”
(was that their spelling error or OPs?)

Nope that was their spelling, I cut and pasted in here

LOL!

Aw, it’s some little horse CRAZY girl that just wants to dream a little dream. We have all been her at one time. I just fear for her posting so openly on such a free for all site! Poor little dear! If she were close I would send her one of my “free hour” coupons so she could at least visit and ride - under supervision of course! But it might soothe - or feed the savage horse CRAZY beast!

Do not be mean - I am sure she means no harm!

roflmao

 That’s my guess, too.

I don’t think so. I think it’s a full-grown MAN who wants an amusement park ride. Like a motorcycle, where he can go FAST and ROAR around curves and have all the thrills the rest of his (miserable little?) life lacks.

Here’s the rough draft of my Craigslist ad. Does it sound ok?

"HELLO I AM LOOKING TO HAVE SOMEONE PAY MY VET BILLS FOR ONE DAY, NOT LESSONS, JUST WANT YOU TO PAY MY VET BILLS? NOT WITH A LITTLE BANK ACCOUNT. Please name your account number and when you will be coming?
thank you :]

“PLEASE BE HERE LAST TUESDAY … AND TOMORROW…”

And, technically, there’s one in your post too.

(Man, I hope there’s not one in these two lines!)

Actually, there are THREE spelling errors in the thread title, but only one in county’s post: county wins.

Doesn’t some wee part of all of us want to put this person on the most difficult horse in the barn, take him out to a field turn him loose and slap the horse on the butt and see what happens!

I need a new monitor :lol::lol:

LOL

We used to have the horses on a main road where people stopped a lot to watch us ride and yes ask for rides. I got tired of it to say the least.
One evening my daughter was riding a young one we had just started. Some man asked if his kids could have a ride. I said, “yes, just give me your keys (new BMW) so my daughter can take your car for a spin around the block, while they ride”. He left. LOL

Why is it …

That people spend so much of their time and energy finding fault in others

Is that the only way you can feel better about yourselves, by demeaning other people

Is that better than compassion, or understanding, or just ignoring something that is not to our standard or intellect, spelling, intelligence, or income:confused:

I amazed at the smallness some people will stoop to to get a jolly

A person is never so tall as when they stoop to lift another up.

Some person has a little pipe dream about riding a horse for the entire day outside of a small fenced in area - it is a concept I enjoy daily. They are offering to pay - what is the problem:confused:

If you go to most horse shows - especially in the south we always show in the “pin” - which took my Illinois ears awhile to “get”. A mispronunciation becomes a misspelling and a thread is devoted to it. Someone call the grammar and spelling police!

And to those of you with spelling difficulties(I am one) Download the browser Mozilla/firefox. And dump Netscape and Internet Explorer. Firefox will red line your misspellings(one of many great reasons to switch) so you can fix them before you post. Which will not address sarcasm and grammar - but at least the spelling Nazi’s will get off your backs

Thanks for the laugh! When someone responds, could you please send them my way too???

It is kind of a funny ad, but the person who did the followup was worse. Considering the original does read as if written by a child (granted, a brash and demanding child) the petty tone is inappropriate. And obviously, the first ad was written by someone who didn’t ‘get’ the problems with what they were asking - either they’re a kid or an adult who doesn’t have much exposure to horses. Being snippy and throwing all that info at them in a self-righteous follow-up was pointless. It didn’t teach the person anything - people don’t learn much from being ridiculed. All it did was let the writer spew.
