Hope the birdhouse device works. I’ve had good luck with it.
I had another thought. The dog we got from the shelter a couple of months ago has mild separation anxiety. We use a Nanny cam. We watch the dogs on our phones when we are not home. You can both hear what the dog is doing, and also talk to the dog. When she starts barking when we leave, we talk to her and it tends to settle her down.
I doubt if you will have any luck with the birdhouse thing, it has never worked for me at all with countless dogs here. The citronella collars and shock collars are good. You generally only have to shock them a couple of times max because it vibrates first so they feel the vibration and stop. It is not something I recommend generally since you can usually train them to stop without it but it doesn’t sound like she will be up for training.
Good luck! It’s really nice that you have a good dialogue with the neighbor. Ours now ignore us in the street even though they were reasonably friendly during our conversation about the dogs. Guess they were annoyed that we were annoyed.
We used a citronella collar also with one of our own dogs and had good results. We worked with her on training too, but she wasn’t 100% reliable in the yard late at night and we had very close neighbors. Just having the collar on discouraged the barking, it only went off (sprayed) a couple of times before she got the idea.
I had sent Cathy a link to a citronella collar on Amazon. She emailed me this morning to say she ordered it.
In the meanwhile, the hand-held sonic device came yesterday. I had not opened it and the dog was tied outside for a while this afternoon. By the time I got the battery in the device, the dog was brought back in.
There are two buttons. One is an audible sound that is suppose to repel an aggressive dog. The second one is the ultrasonic button. Pushed it and didn’t hear it. But my cat did and ran! He was in the other room.
