@walktrot, cannot love this enough!
I love all these pictures and memories!! The best part is that we all managed to find some truly special horses (or maybe they are all special) and knew enough to cherish them
Not a very flattering picture, I’m as grubby as one could be, but my hubby caught this moment about 2 years ago and I’ve always liked it. It’s his mini Captain Courageous.
Everyone has such lovely pictures
Crossing the finish flags at our first mini trial last year. Never in a million years did I think I’d ever go XC on my cow pony, but she LOVED it.
This is my beloved Crackers (Get Crackin’), playing around in the back yard:
And this is one of my favorites, taken the same day, and is my avatar:
I know, I know, I wasn’t wearing my helmet. Dumb, I know.

This picture always makes me smile. It was taken in 2008, when I was in college. A friend and I hauled horses down to the beach for spring break, and met up with another friend that also brought a horse. We had so much fun! This horse was a very green four year old, and he was such a good boy to tolerate all the sights and sounds and activity on the beach. Unfortunately he was lost to colic not too long after this picture was taken.
These photos are all so beautiful, because they express the joy that horses bring into our lives. We all belong to a fabulous club!
I am loving all of these!!
Ladies and gents…this is what the Equine community is about! Look at the joy, the freedom, the laughter. And those of us who are of a certain age - holy cow, how amazing is it that we can still participate in this very physically grueling and dangerous passion!
OP, thanks for starting this thread. It is literally the best. I am so grateful!!
Let me try again (photo uploaded weird last time)
Just about to finish a clear xc round at the Kentucky Horse Park!
Lovely picture! So sorry for your loss.
I love this thread.
I earlier shared a picture from years ago, here’s one from this spring. I recently started getting involved with my local foxhunt after years spent focused on showing, and this pic is from a hunter pace last month.
I started this mare when she first came off the track a few years ago, then sold her to a friend. Last fall I bought her back when the friend’s circumstances changed, and I’ve really enjoyed playing with this horse again!!
Is that a black horse with white legs and a half-white tail? How adorable is that?!
I hope that @supershorty628 will see this, and show us the photos of her and her lovely mare Nikki. She has some great photos of them together (and if I remember correctly, a few of them close, but separately.)
Yes, she’s a black and white pinto with 4 white stockings (with ermine spots!) and a stripe of white in her tail. Not that I’m biased or anything, but I also think she’s absolutely adorable.
Too cute!
Ok…I am getting old. Moving isn’t always easy but I keep trying. This one just happened on Thursday. I am in Iceland, on an Icelandic horse😍. His name is Lunda (Icelandic for puffin).
It was raining so I am ensconced in multiple layers plus the stables rain gear. Who cares. It was a wonderful day.
Meanwhile back at home is my love Kyra. Our hair is the same color. I’m 68. She turned 21 last Monday. Just 7 years until our century ride.

The Century Ride was my goal for years. I hope the 7 years go by fast!!
