I really need to know- why are horse people so flipping crazy?

no, FP, wasn’t a hoarder. Went underground after getting slammed for the way she spent her student loans. Now a vet practicing in the East, paying her loans back I’d imagine. Shame, one of my favorite posters!

I haven’t read all the replies, so sorry if someone already posted this! But, I read somewhere (I think here) a few years ago that “all horse people are crazy, you just have to pick the crazy you can deal with.” That being said, I’ve recently switched to having guys in “leadership” positions–male BO, male trainer, and male BM, and I have to say it’s much less stressful, and they are so much more laid back! (and yes, I’m sure I’m a crazy horse lady too, though I try my hardest not to be (: )

This is very sad :frowning:  Three of the six trainers who inspired me and pushed me were males. So that’s 50% female. But I have to admit the true sickos were all women. Wish it were’t so, but there do seem to be a lot of crazy female trainers.

Or is the world really packed full of crazy people, and horse people really aren’t more crazy than anyone else?

Based on my experience on a commuter train yesterday, I’d say this!

“There is nothing so Queer as Folk”

I work in an ER. There are far more crazy folks out there than you’re led to believe, horse people or otherwise.

Although I must admit horse people seem to have their own special brand of crazy. I guess it could be due to the fact that I only see the usual crazies for short periods of time, while I’m exposed to the crazy horse people for longer stents.

Of all the COTHers I’ve met, FP is probably my favorite. She’s a lady who never, ever, no matter what isn’t gonna give up and she is finally living her dream life. I wish I had a tiny fraction of her drive, willpower, and stamina.

True story. Thank you for remembering. I was sick of folks hiding behind a computer sending me nasty grams while I

  1. worked my ass off becoming the first doctor in my family (yes, veterinarians are ‘real’ doctors)
  2. survived a horrible divorce at the end of grad school, and sold my ranch
  3. found out a “friend” on COTH sold my horse trailer with all my belongings (that I had left in the living quarters) and trashed my truck I lent her during the divorce
  4. traveled, met people with beautiful souls who helped heal mine
  5. oh, and tried my best to save horses and dogs and kids along the way

Interest is still racking up on my student loans, but I am going to volunteer in rural areas in Central America for 3 weeks in December (those on my FBhttps://www.facebook.com/maggie.klein.5 have seen the pictures why).

This original post was in regards to a COTHer I later outted here (scroll down to post 71):

We buried a big part of me and my husband’s heart with Champ, and things were never the same. 6 months later I told him I needed to be separated. I still have the $50 pony (who I am trying to get someone to ride, as my heart just isn’t in it anymore) as well as the Fat Palomino (who is now the old lame palomino).

I’ve been lucky enough to meet a handful of stunning COTHers who are kind beautiful souls. Heck, we are still crazy, just not vindictive.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been told cat breeders will top crazy horse people any day.
