My sister did a week long ride in Iceland about 20 years ago. I don’t know which outfitter she had (they were “herding” a group of horses from one place to the other on the island) but she came back enthralled and loved her ride so much, once she got back she bought an icelandic horse for trail riding / trekking. Those horses have such comfy gaits when they are well trained, it’s amazing.
