Oh, I’m so very sorry about Beth! 
That’s awful. Poor sweet kitty. And the boys knew something was up. You have been through so much trying to help your cats and take care of them. Hugs to you.

I’m also so sorry to hear about Beth - I’d so hoped that you’d continue to beat the kitty odds (after Hammie and we hope Nigel 
) but how sad that it was not to be.

A little good news! Nigel went for treatment today. The vet just texted to say that he’s up to 6.3lbs! At his lowest, he was 5.9lbs (about 2 1/2 weeks ago), and that’s the point at which we thought we might lose him.

Regarding giving Nigel fluids at home, it’s not a big deal (if the cat is cooperative). One of the vet techs at my vet clinic showed me how and there are lots of videos on YouTube. I use 20 gauge needles and it takes about 5 minutes to give Dewey his 100 mL of fluids. Dewey is much better for fluids than he is for brushing/combing his fur.

How is Nigel doing?
He’s doing well right now. He is still eating dry, and he wants whatever I am eating, so that’s good. (I think. Kitty paws in my plate is not my thing.)

Yeah, just no to paws in plate. One of my cats, Duncan, has figured out (he thinks) that if he smacks his paw down really hard in the middle of your plate that it will fly up or spill in some way and while you are trying to get up from mess in your lap and on the sofa he will gobble up all he can. Last time he tried that it backfired and he wound up getting spaghetti sauce mostly on him. He is no longer allowed on my lap or the sofa when I am eating. I’m so cruel…call the SPCA.

Thank you. Nigel is actually doing a lot better (knock on wood!). I am pretty sure his weight is up - though you can still feel his ribs a little, it’s not like playing a xylophone anymore. He goes back Monday for a blood draw to send to the lab so we can check his histo levels. Hopefully we see a significant improvement!

Nigel is - dum da dum - 6lbs 14oz today!!! Almost 7lbs! From the 5lbs 8oz he was a few weeks ago, that’s a huge improvement.
We did a blood draw on Monday to test the levels of histo left in his system (if any) and are waiting for those results to come back - the vet hopes today, could be tomorrow. I’m just super excited that he’s gaining weight. So many times in the last two months, I honestly didn’t think he’d make it.
