If the sign says "No Dogs Permitted On Show Grounds," why are there so many right there next to the rail?

Ah, come on! What’s a hack class without a dozen Jack Russells snapping at your horse through the fence like so many moray eels darting out of their underwater caves?

Does anyone agree that the braiders are among the WORST offenders? At least in our area. One braider goes around with 3 dogs, none on leashes, and one of which snarls and snaps at kids and other dogs. Nope, the rules don’t apply to those people.

I think that they are afraid of offending certain trainers in fear that they might stop coming to their show. There are dogs at some of the shows around here that have been causing trouble for years but nobody says anything because they are afraid of the trainer.

I just got a prize list for a new show series in Atlanta area (Wills Park in Alpharetta) and the show manager states that not only are there to be no loose dogs, if your dog comes into the show ring there will be a $100 fine. Hopefully it will be enforced.

There is no crying in baseball!!!

I’ve been known to comment (in not-so-sotte voce) that the rules ought to be to keep the kids on leashes and let the dogs run loose. But, since the dog leash rules don’t seem to work, a kid leash rule probably wouldn’t, either.

Get cops and/or park rangers to come bust them. Or, when the show is on grounds owned by others, have the “others” be the bad cop.

I’ve seen that $100 fine rule in a lot of prize lists. Doesn’t seem to deter people…you still see dogs roaming around. The nice thing is that some of the shows donate the $100/dog to the local animal shelter.
