The guy in the original video on hybrid cats is Jackson Galaxy (real name something like Irving Groznik), is a cat behaviorist with an old television show, My Cat from Hell, that shows people how to deal with problem cats. He teaches people how to “catify” their houses, understand behavior, and (mostly) fix things.

Our shelter is like that. I asked about our last dog and they told me they don’t make guesses on breeds.
Coincidentally, a rescue I follow on Facebook just took in an African Serval.
5 months old. Metabolic bone disease, many previous fractures. Legs will be deformed for life. Collapsed pelvis, causing life time issues with eliminating. Hernia, I can’t remember more specifics.
5 MONTHS OLD! People got him and had no idea how to feed properly. Released him to the rescue because his issues are overwhelming and expensive. They did that much damage in a short period of time.
As the vwt said, they don’t care about the animal. They just see dollar signs

Thanks for the article. I’m glad the registry is trying to be responsible. It doesn’t help that tiny dwarf horses get publicized on social media which can drive irresponsible breeders to push for smaller minis.

That is so sad. People can’t even take care of their pet lizards properly. Poor little things get metabolic issues if not supplemented. Ignorance. More reasons to restrict people to traditional pets without some type of license.
I can’t like this enough.
I look at a Great Pyrenees group and the number of people who want advice on how to stop their mountain dogs from barking and patrolling makes me stabby.
I learned a lot from that cat guy. I didn’t realize that those were hybrid cats.
My daughter bought a kinkalow. She’s in Japan where she claims rescues are few and far between, and this cat hasn’t got the “best” coloration so sat at the pet shop for a month. It’s still abhorrent to me, the cats been bred for looks, like a damn designer purse.

All because someone who presumably wanted to create designer cats. And they didn’t do even the minimal research on nutritional needs. Poor baby. Suffered most of it’s short 5 month life,

Is she in Tokyo? There’s a great rescue there that I visited.
Kansai but really close to the Noto peninsula earthquake zone. I asked her about rescues but I think she saw that particular cat and fell in love and didn’t want to drive all day to Tokyo.
If she finds herself in Tokyo, there’s a great cat cafe/rescue (not one of those awful pet store-type ones you see in Harajuku, but a legit rescue) in Yanaka called Yadorigi Cafe. Wonderful place and the cats are all well taken care of! Not like she needs another one, of course
