Mine does look different on a horse then the traditional western saddles. Mine has fit everything from thin and narrow to wide and flat. I simply use different thickness in pads.
Best way to see is by how your horse feels. You can also work him enough to get him sweating under the pad to check.
My one arab immediately became mre free moving and stretchy as son as it was n him.

I have had Steele saddles for years and yes they do run very narrow, really more for a saddlebred type narrow horse. I have a beautiful almost new Steele that just doesn’t fit my horses and I have walking horses. I once asked them to make me a saddle on a tree sized like western semi-quarter horse bar but things just didn’t work out and I don’t think they make custom trees anymore. My horses gait improved so much when I went to a wider tree yet I was more comfortable in the Steele saddle.
Not only her deal with Circle Y, but her deal with Big Horn too… and then Big Horn closed its manufacturing.
Makes me wonder who’s making her saddles… National Bridle carries some that I am more than positive are Crates. I’ll get the whole scoop in about a month …
