I use mersant and Rigbie farm . my last mare in sept 2013 cost 11000 total.
17 for a mare from the UK to west coast - quarantining at Davis. Some extra cost was UK health requirements and shipping to Amsterdam. If you are buying from a dealer I would be very, very cautious. This was in November.
It cost $11,000 CDN for a mare just over a year ago but I’m sure prices have gone up since that time. Quarantine time in Canada is also longer from what I hear. From talk with others, I’d be prepared to spend between US$11,000 - $13,000 depending on where you quarantine.
I imported one last month. It was as follows:
$8128 for services to Amsterdam, vet work, flight, etc through Klatte
$2331 for transport from New York and CEM quarantine through Blue Diamond in Ohio. They were fantastic!
About another $1500 or $1600 for shipping via Bob Hubbard to my place in Colorado.
So roughly $10,500 for import and quarantine, plus shipping to wherever you are. It does pay to shop around a bit.
When we did it was about 15k. But she came from Holland to the west coast, so it might be a bit cheaper?

I imported my mare about 2.5 years ago. I don’t recall the exact price for the transportation to JFK but some of the numbers above look good. I used Klatte.
I chose Ri Arm Farm in NJ for the CEM quarantine and would definitely recommend them. That was about $2500.
EDIT: I was so happy we went to see her a couple times in quarantine. We took numerous pictures of her looking awkward and worried! But my DH also (we think) taught her how to enjoy hand-fed treats - she picked up on that after quite a few surprisingly awkward attempts.[/QUOTE]
Where you able to go and ride her ?
We’re in the process of importing a mare and are looking to pay between $13,000 and $15,000 by the time everything is said and done (Shipping, Quarantine at the airport, shipping in a closed container to the CEM Quarantine facility and the CEM Quarantine.
