Normally Boyd likes to have innocent bystanders serve as human flags. I’m glad he took on the job himself for a change! Standing directly next to a prelim skinny in a Pony Club clinic was not my favorite activity.

My instructor does that with me and my mare, who has a tendency to yahoo over fences, then take off bucking on landing, especially after lines. So she stands about 5 strides after the last jump and tells me to stop before her. Aarrgh. It does keep the mare’s focus but man, the woman has a death wish!
That sequence of photos is great, Astérix! But the dog…he was so close to your horse’s hind quarters! Dangerous - in the same situation, my mare would have kicked him (and probably bucked me off).[/QUOTE]
Exactly!! I think every trainer I’ve ridden with has done this at one point or another! I have a picture of James Atkinson doing the same thing to me and my horse!
Regarding the dog…I get it, it’s his farm, but that is dangerous. My horse is very dog friendly but I doubt he would have tolerated that either.
My old horse tried to buck off KOC. She said “right now he is not impressed with me.”
That changed.
Silva must have nerves of steel, married to him. :D:lol::winkgrin:
I was trying to load a recalcitrant stallion. He ran backwards, then lunged forward and grabbed my right thigh in his jaws. BAM! Grabbed and retreated. Had I been in shorts or breeches he’d have taken that quad with him. As it was his canines quite literally punctured my jeans as cleanly as could be and I sported an X ray quality view of his upper and lower jaws for about two months.
Sh** happens sometimes.
My right breast- thru carharts, and a down jacket, was soundly grabbed, and pulled by a horse named Tug- I am not kidding. I was feeding him. He was actually a snake. I will be forever grateful to Carharts- still bled even thru about 5 layers (Mi winter, cold COLD barn)
sh** does happen. Avoid it whenever you can.
