Thank you again everyone. Next question is whether it’s worth trying to adopt a quiet older neutered male cat. Naku has been with other cats her entire life.
Maybe you could foster an older cat? That way, you could give it back if it doesn’t work out or when Naku is gone. Or you could adopt it if you fall in love with it.
This is straight out of the Acme catalog! I love it!
So sad for Sam. Your creatures are lucky to have you looking after them.
I 2nd this. Rescues end up with seniors sometimes, most are surrendered by families who move and don’t want to take them, or their owner passed away and family members don’t want to care for the kitty
It could be a great opportunity to get a gentle soul to keep your senior lady cat company. Most of the time, the right cat will make itself known to you when its the right time.
I would vote no. No matter how mellow, there will be issues to work out. AN older male may also mount her, even if neutered. I think older kitties are better in a quiet house without new social interactions to adjust to. We have a 15 year old that we will probably separate because she would rather just have her own spot. Sometimes, we overthink things.
Well Miss Naku’s blood work has come back as “looks like a 1 year old cat” according to the vet. She’s treated for hyperthyroidism, but other than that…
I’m inclined to keep her as a solo cat, at least for now. I suppose that having to mute a lot on work Zoom calls is not that bad. She weighs 5 pounds 12 ounces but she is LOUD. Think a Siamese cat type meow and volume.
It sounds like she’s mourning her friend. Poor kitty. You’re right to let her be. She’ll have to get over this loss. A new kitty would just add drama.
Aww, how sweet! I love it when they cover their nose. She’s a cutie pie!!
How’s she doing by herself? Snickers is more vocal but Sammy hasn’t seemed any different since we lost jellybean.
