Injured Baby Box Turtle, Help Please!

Many Thanks to all the turtle lovers who have made such helpful suggestions and comments.

The turtle’s shell was looking funky on the edges of the damaged spots so he has been sent to a vet in another town. The verdict is infection, so they will keep and treat him/her. The vet thinks it is treatable so Fingers Crossed. Jingling that this little turtle responds well to the treatment.

Got the little turtle back, he is holding his own. Rehab will be a long process, as turtles heal so slowly.

You’re a good person for working so hard to save this little one.

Do you have pictures? He sounds cute!

Just a little update… We set Prosper (the subject of this thread) free in our back yard last fall so that he/she could dig in and hibernate as box turtles in this area do.

Well, Himself was cruising the back yard this AM and discovered Prosper eating a slug in the garden!!! The wee little one has nearly doubled in size, and although his/her shell will always be ‘distinctive’ Prosper is living up to the name.

I re-read this whole thread just now and am so glad it had a happy ending.
We need to keep all this knowledge for future rescues - we’ll done.
A slug - who knew! Bleh, but a very useful little fellow.
