You forgot something…
Knowledge is always nice to possess. Right up there with having a little class and dignity.
I love the circus theme Michelle has invested in. She certainly has all the above. It’s been a pleasure owning two of her former pinto show horses - they are impeccably trained.

If it’s flashy and trashy it can’t be all that bad
All together now, “We have friends in LOW places…”
What a fantastic spectacle! Wow. Thanks for sharing.

Raises a glass…“I’m not big on social graces …”
…Vulgar Americans.
Takes a swig…er…sip of her Malbec, and sings…
“I didn’t mean to cause a big scene, and ruin your black tie affair…”
Bwwwahhhaaahhhhaaaaa…
{pours a few shots}
Hey I didn’t mean to cause a big scene!
Just give me an hour and then…
I’ll be as high as that ivory tower you’re livin’ in!
{Drinks all around!}
But seriously now, Thomas1. Did you notice each horse/pony had its OWN HEADER???
Trashy indeed. At least there were clowns.

Aw honey, since he showed up we have our very own…
Well, I can vouch that any one of the leading ladys of the Saddlebred AND Coaching world such as McFarlane and Wrigley are extremely talented horsewomen. They could make a garbage barg look classy…
How does Thomas think the circus pulled through town in the days of carriages when it came to town and had to advertise?
Concours as I understand it, is the utmost epitome of its type. I think that many carriage enthusiast would agree that commercial is a type. And the extravagance of her turnouts are of the utmost. Not everything about driving needs to be about a stuffy old crotch up on the box.
Trashy would have been a wagon full of prostitutes waving their feather boas at the judge while a fat, whored up Madam manned the reins.
McFarlane, trashy. I don’t think so…
Beautiful pics and turnouts. I don’t do the ASB thing any longer, but used to ride with Marilyn MacF…very nice lady, and her Friesians are fantastic to both ride and drive (and funnily enough, my favorite of her Friesians was named Thomas…no relation, I’m sure  ). I always go to Shelbyville and Louisville for the atmosphere and to have fun…I would love to see one of these classes there. Maybe at Shelbyville?

A class like that might attract quite a crowd. Get the young folks interested in driving, ya know?
I saw the photos on Facebook that Brendan posted and I so wished I could have been there to see it.
Thomas, Michelle McFarlane is quite well known. She drove a vintage “old west” stagecoach in the closing ceremonies at Nagano at the Olympics as part of the introduction that announced the future games at Salt Lake City.
She has also won the Saddlebred 5-Gaited World Grand Championship and is the first woman to ever do so. She has since repeated it several times on a total of 3 different horses…CH Skywatch, CH Memories Citation and then the horse pulling the lion coach - Casey’s Final Countdown.
She is a very, very nice lady and is quite respectable…really.

Now, you know that Thomas sees all, and knows all. Just ask him!
Not to mention - she is an AMATEUR.
AND, Memories Citation was already a World’s Grand Champion Three Gaited horse, and she did most of the work gaiting him to come back and win the Five Gaited Championship. I don’t think any other horse has ever won both. Maybe Harness and Five gaited, but not 3 and 5.
Plus, while she was in Nagano, both her parents were killed when their home burned (her home as well) but she stayed and did the final ceremonies. The show must go on.
Michele McFarlane is many many things, but trashy isn’t anywhere on the list.
Amen SmartAlex! I’ve spoken by phone & email with her several times although I’ve not met her in person. She is very gracious and down to earth; even when I turned her down when she inquired about purchasing CH Snow Fooling back from me. I could never part with that mare. Incidentally, CH Wysteria, my other pinto mare, went to Nagano with her. She will do an incredible Levade which was part of her training in preparation for the closing ceremonies. I am not a dressage rider but both mares have given me an appreciation for dressage that I didn’t possess before. Snow Fooling’s Piaffe is a real thrill to ride. They are my only real contact with the dressage world and to think that the training stems from someone who has multiple wins at our World Championship instead of someone who actively competes in dressage!
Too cool! I had thought about going since I am in Lexington, but had been working the hunter show at the KHP and it would have made a way too long day. Now I wish I had!! And FYI, I know very little about Saddlebreds, but even I know MM is a class act all the way!
So, random ?..
Why are they CH Skywatch and CH Memories Citation, but not CH Casey’s Final Countdown? Is that just that it wasn’t typed, or does he for some reason not have that designation yet?
WGC CH SA Casey’s Final Countdown does, in fact have his Champion designation. The other two should have been WGC CH, as well.
Sometimes we ASB gals just need some reminding about correctly noting our breeds accomplishments- Thanks!
