Interesting feedback from Hawk Trailers re: Interior Lights LED vs non LED

MSP, they said they wouldn’t put LED’s in the horse section, but were fine with them elsewhere.

Out of curiosity, how was it not built the way you requested? (This is my biggest fear for a custom build)

I believe it was all miscommunication and a bit of lack of organization in the ordering process between dealer and manufacture and me. For example I call dealer and ask questions about the trailer and am told this model doesn’t come with adjustable breast bar. I am keeping notes on a couple of different trailers I am looking at buying so I write everything down. I come back to this model because I like it the best so I call to discuss my options with the breast bar, I have 14.2 horse and ponies and am trying to configure a trailer that will work for all size horses. Second discussion I am told that model comes with adjustable breast bar I even mention I was told it did not and it was confirmed again. So when I order the trailer it is not on the list of things to add because I think it comes with it. I get a trailer with breast bars set for tall horse. The stuff that was optional was correctly added but I had asked for the LED lights to be placed diagonally from each other so the front and back of box was illuminated and that was not done. I also asked for an extra loop to hang a water bucket on, carpet in the tack room wall and didn’t get that either.

I think all of this could be avoided if there was a sheet with all included and add on items listed, especially the standard items, where you could check them off and write a note for modifications. This is the first time I have ever bought a horse trailer so lack of experience on my part. I am 52 so this is probably my first and last!

The breast bar and bucket loop items means I have to have welding done on a new trailer. I have not had the money to do this and I fear the trailer will look modified and messed up if I don’t find the right person to do it so I am using it as is.

The LED placement on my model is at the horses heads and there are no lights behind the horse. Perhaps that is what Hawk objects to. Also may be why I did not get the lights placed where I wanted. My thinking was to be able to see in the back of the box when I am shipping with dividers removed or for cleaning the trailer.

Hawk made all my custom modifications including external light switches, reinforced ramp, etc etc etc. Love the company and loved my experience with them. Extremely accommodating. Plus I loved the tour of their factory. Lol

You could probably convince them to put rhinestone wings on it if you really pushed.
