Was wondering if it is still even allowed/acceptable. Tailored Sportsman has a new rust color. It’s actually just a teensy bit darker than the older rust colors. I bought a pair, but now I am wondering if they will just be schooling/clinic breeches for me because I haven’t seen anyone wearing anything but beige on the west coast
They are allowed and rulebook acceptable. They are “out of style” and you will be the only one wearing them. It’s up to you
I just bought a pair and plan to show in them. The shows I attend are unrated, but people dress well, and shows are well-attended and run by USEF rules.
I don’t see others wearing rust, but my prediction is that no one will mind at all or say anything to me. I am already the only one wearing a safety vest, and no one has ever been anything but gracious and polite to me. I place well when my horse and I perform well; my vest and breeches have nothing to do with it.

Yes, I think you’re right. Too bad. I love them.
I’ve got a pair of them that I’ve worn at local schooling shows. I’m planning on wearing them at least once next year for the Adults at a B/C show. If TS is making them again, I may have to see about getting another pair!

They are very pretty. I got them in the Trophy Hunter front zip mid-rise. The color looks like brick or redwood. Very pretty.
Mine are from Custom Riding Apparel.

I am a rusty adult who came back to riding after a 7 year hiatus. The fashionable era for rust colored breeches was actually before my time when I was riding years ago, but I always did like them. Probably, I would feel more comfortable wearing them at a schooling or B show, but my trainer doesn’t go to them. And I might feel like I was sticking out too much at an A circuit show.
You know, this is a NEW/old color so you can start the new trend. Lots of folks on here LOVE rust, so once a few people start showing in them, I think the floodgates will open and they will be more common. If you like them, wear them!! The trend will catch!
Hmm, these in the “redwood” color? That seems a little darker and redder than “rust” to me. I have these from Custom Riding Apparel, and find they fit pretty similar to TS, and was thinking of picking up these for schooling. I have a chestnut, so I fear going too red with the rust will clash with her.

Are those in the Dover catalog? I think I saw those. There were only two companies that make them; that one and TS.

I think they would be pretty with a chestnut. They do seem just a tad darker to me than the old rust. Not quite as bright or orangey-red.

Yes, Victory Canter also carries them, and they are cheaper than at Dover:

there was a poster on here who I thought showed the hunters in rust breeches AND brown boots. It looked great. Hopefully they chime in!
FWIW, I love that Redwood color. Those and the black forest (hunter green) are on my list.

Yes. Though I got mine at the Tack Box in Middleburg; Dover was just what came up first with a picture on a search Here’s what they look like in action.
I might have to go see if I can find the new TS color somewhere in person, and see what it looks like, versus website images, which aren’t always the best.
Anyway, I say GO FOR IT! Rock the rust

I know. Well I wish some of the seasoned, Ribbon-Ho types would start wearing them again because I am way too dorky to be one of the trend-setters-LOL

I just ordered a pair of the Redwood TS from eBay for my DD - they are darker and redder than the traditional rust breech. Not quite sure the color would work for showing.
That said, my DD showed many times at A shows (on a chestnut!) in rust breeches and always looked great and pinned appropriately. We were very sad to have to retire them but they were looking threadbare
Looking at the links to the picture of the Custom Riding Apparel version, I think their hue is closer the rust color from yesteryear than the TS. But they are pretty close.
On my local show circuit, there’s a few people that have them. I have toyed w/ the idea of getting a pair myself…since I got the brown boots, I should have the rust breeches, right??
The last pair of rust pants I had were rust jodphurs
