I s’ppose it is possible but holy that’s a leap of faith. Of course assuming that the ground was level on both sides and not just a 5’ drop on the landing side.
The British jumped high walls, I do not know the height but 4 ft or more.
The Australians still jump wire don’t they? I remember a hunt issue of the Chronicle about 10 or 15 years ago with pictures of Australians jumping wire. The warning to the approach was “ware wire!” I think those fences were 4 ft high
3 ft in the field is high enough for me. That’s what we used to jump in VA way back when.
New Zealand hunters jump wire. Our Master did it and has the pictures in Chronicle to prove it. All those Irish hunt videos of people jumping double muddy ditches and falling is just horrible. I do not see the point. Guess I’m lucky to have such great music and see hounds so much. Also, in that video lots of people stopped when someone fell. One person stops or we would be scolded for falling too far behind.
Thanks for clearing that up. I saw the pictures in the Chronicle of wire jumping and thought it was Australia. One of my horses has always jumped wire fences on his own, not with anyone on him. Not what I want him to do. But then he’ll jump anything.
