Is it possible to find a big straight load living quarters trailer? Or can you convert a slant to straight?

I have a 2000 Trail-et that I love. I would check to see if the axles have been replaced. I replaced 1 when I bent it hitting a pothole. The axles on mine are rubber torsion axles and the rubber got really hard so did not absorb the bumps well. My horse started scrambling on turns even if I was really slow and careful. I replaced the 2nd axle about 18 months after the first one got replaced and he stopped scrambling. I sometimes wonder if having the rubber no longer able to absorb the shock contibuted to the axle bending.
The Trail-ets are nice trailers. In my area they hold their value well. One from 1999 would not scare me. Obviously I am still using mine that is only 1 year newer. I bought mine at 1 year old with about 10 rides on it by the previous owner for $8,300. I was talking to the local horse trail place where about 90% of the people in our area buy from and he said I could easily get $7,000 maybe even $7,500 for mine. Not too bad.

I actually saw a real-life version of the convertible 4-to-6 … plus, it could be 3 box stalls as a separate configuration. This trailer, I’m pretty sure, cost more than my family’s income. But the owner was beyond nice and gave an overview of the features. This particular trailer also had wood paneling instead of rubber lining up the walls. I’m pretty sure the trailer is nicer than my house, lol.

Adding to the overall perfect design of that dream trailer was a spread 2-axle design. (I noted this as a 3-axle model makes already-exorbitant toll fees here even more ridiculous as fees are based on number of axles.)

Sigh. The perfect answer for a club traveling with short (16.2) widebody drafts, moderate draft/WB crosses, full lanky (17.3) warmbloods with giraffe necks and tall (18, 18.1, 19) drafts weighing in at a full ton each.:lol::lol:

nothing like have a six figure trailer loaded with six figure horse set at home because the tolls are too expensive

There’s a head to head with living quarters right now up on eventing nation

Get a 6 horse slant and make it into 3 box stalls. My 18H WB fit just fine like that in mine and my BFF’s 17+h draft mare rides in a double slant stall with no problem. Leave the golf cart at home and bring a bike will save you a lot of space too

Ooooh that looks like a winner, take the dividers out of the 2-horse section and have a 3-horse with open box.
Few more photos, none of the horse area though.

Anything is possible. Heck, barrel racer Tiany Schuster loads a car above her horses in her trailer. (video tour):eek:

If I were looking for something specific like you, I would honestly start posting and searching on FB. There seems to be so many pages dedicated for trailers for sale, or saddles or sale, or whatever you are looking for. And people are all too eager to respond and sell their item!

Of course, you’re “kicker” is finding something that can fit a golf cart. I would seriously find a mechanic or metal worker who maybe can convert a current horse trailer into what works for you. If you can’t afford something new and custom, that might be what you have to do, if you can’t find what you are looking for.

I know for sure that 4 Star and also shadow trailers will make straight load trailers with LQ. Maybe you can try to find dealers that might have leads on used ones?

You might try looing at Hawk Trailers. They will build you anything you want at a reasonable price. Their
website is www.hawktrailers.com

Just for fun, I’ve been searching Horse Trailer World for 9H head-to-heads. I think you could find a used one, convert if it doesn’t have LQ, and use the extra 3 horse spots as mid-tack. So, of the 9 stalls - one row of three goes to horses, one row of three goes to the golf cart, and one row three goes to supplies/tack. There are currently three for sale without LQ, from $28k - 95k.

Hmmmm…that would be a tough one for sure. We have been looking for many, many years that is similar - but not quite, and we were unable to find anything that would work for us.

We had to go custom to get what we wanted. We also went to Congress to get some ideas and we spoke to many different people on what we were looking for. We also searched Horse Trailer World for many years and could not find anything that would suit our needs.

We also thought of purchasing a large trailer, like a 9+ horse, and build our own LQ (husband is a carpenter, so it would be fairly easy for him), but the $ amount was really not going to save much. Purchasing things like counter tops, water heaters, trailer fridges, AC unit etc are expensive and very tedious to install.

We went with a Cimmeron and had our LQ build by Trailer Boss this spring and we couldnt be happier with it. We did purchase this at the dealership at Congress last year and we had it by June 2018.

@beau159 that trailer is something else!! Her comments cracked me up. Thanks for that !
