Is Swat best? GNATS

Re the Repel Lemon-Eucalyptus … I read that you must be super duper careful with this on horses (or any animal) because if their mouth, nose or especially eyes touch it, it is extremely caustic and dangerous. Where/how do you apply the Repel?

Same question for those of you who use Deep Woods Off.

I’m thinking, mane, tail, bellyline type of thing?

I’m sure you’ve figured out the best way to use these on horses… personally I get leery about applying these types of things anywhere on the legs or chest or sides where a horse can put its head/eyes. My mare is out 24/7 and I only get to the barn every other day or so to check on/look her over

Endure and Tri-tech 14 fly sprays both repel gnats with good results.
i haven’t noticed any here yet but I have 3 allergic horses that get coated in one of these sprays twice a day.

@GraceLikeRain if you are in Canada, Mooi Natural Essentials Bug-a-boo balm is a very effective product for gnats. I just apply it to the midline under the belly, groin and ears. I’ve pretty much stopped using fly spray as this works much better and lasts longer. It does have some essential oils but woman who makes it said that the sulfur in it is probably the most effective ingredient (plus the physical barrier). For some reason I can’t upload a screenshot of the ingredient list but if you google the product you can read it if you are curious.

Where did you hear that? I used it daily for a year all over a horses midline with no issues.

I’ll look for the link, it was regarding lemon eucalyptus… but your horse can not reach his midline with his eyes so you’re good
