Yeah, last week I took a lesson with a trainer who has worked on both coasts and at a pretty high level, and he was like - “Horse is lovely, problem is you’re in Idaho.” And I’m 20 minutes from the Boise airport, it’s not like we’re out in the hinterlands. I know as a buyer it’s a risk to travel just to see one horse, which leaves the local market.
If you want to get her into a new home, I would send her to one of these trainers where she can have a month of consistent and discipline driven work. A trainer can tell you what her potential will be. Personally I see a horse that needs a solid flat work ( dressage) foundation before she can be evaluated for any kind of hunter potential.
I think her market is as a nice , gotta love a QH, home with someone who wants a reliable trail and basic arena horse. This would likely ease off her breathing issues.
As a dressage rider who had a QH that went to 3rd level and schooled beyond, hock and hind end soundness are paramount. I love the sweet sensibility of my last horse and he will always be the epitome of what I want in a friendly , amiable horse
I hate to say it but a 7 year old with unresolved breathing issues is a HARD no for me, no matter what the horse does. That’s a lifetime of issues, staring someone in the face.
I wouldn’t worry about attracting the dressage market. From all that she does well I think she would sell just fine . Just be upfront on her breathing issues (when doing speed events) but from all the other things you can do with her I would think she would generate a lot of interest
So you want her to be dishonest? Because the horse has had breathing issues when not doing speed events too, per the other thread.
All I can comment on is what I have read in this thread. I have enough problems remembering what I did last week and you want me to know what someone posted on a different thread that I may have not even read??
This was the info given here. I trust OP will give full disclosure whatever that may be.
I Posted a link to her saying otherwise in the other thread right in this thread so no remembering required.
Don’t get me wrong. I think the OP wants what is best for this horse so plans to be honest.
TBH-- I don’t always read all replies to the OP, so i missed yours. I can tell the best thing for the horse is the main goal and lying about health issues doesn’t fit with this persons character from other threads.
