Is this a deal on a Stonewalll?

Is this a deal on this saddle? At first I assumed it was since new ones seem to be 1500.00 to 1700.00. But another poster said they can be had for less. Hmm…

If I knew more about them and was actually needing (not wanting) a new saddle, I would consider it. They seem very interesting to me as I like how they seem to put the rider in a very balanced position. Also, do people ever change the fenders to english leathers?

Trying to make it a whole 12 months without a major tack purchase… Lol.

Happy riding,
Jessie

I have found a lot of them ( in the 300-500 range), by going to searchcraiglsit.org and searching for “stonewall endurance saddle”. Love the stonewalls- so comfy and light

The big difference in prices is based on age of the saddle. If the stirrup hanger is brass rather than stainless steel, it is 20+ years old, if the flap covering the hanger is not stiched , it is 15+ years old. If it doesn’t have footmans loops(unless they were added later), it is 8+ years old. For the newer used ones, ~800-1200 is the price range I have seen. The older ones tend to be much cheaper. The are very tough saddles though- mine was built in the early eighties and looks practically new .

I got one specifically because I love the position that it puts me in.Very balanced, legs beneath you rather than in front of you. I took the fenders off(they slide off of the 1.5" nylon “leathers”) and I love it. The fenders were annoying for me- little too stiff, but I hate most fenders.

You are right about that being a good price for a newer stonewall- its the oldies that are cheaper. Its hard to find a new stonewall <10 years old used.

Thanks for all the info on these saddles.

No prob. I am in love with mine and spent alot of time searching for one that would fit my horse. If you find one used somewhere or are interested in buying one, call Jackie at stonewall- she is incredible helpful.

I started riding in one I borrowed from a friend and loved it. Finished a 50 in it with no back issues for myself or my mare. When riding in a treeless prior I always had back discomfort after riding short distances. Found one online in the range mentioned above and hope to receive this week. Extremely comfortable ride and very light as well.
