ISO Barn Coat. LL Bean, Orvis, Carhartt?

Brands are so individual as I wear my Berne brand items way more than my stiff Carhartt coat. The goats can’t get into those higher pockets thankfully.

I have both the LL Bean flannel-lined barn jacket and the insulated barn coat. They are definitely durable. I don’t use them for barn chores because I don’t want them to get that dirty (as someone else mentioned, my barn coats never come clean once they’re barnified). They’re also heavier than I like for working in the barn. I’m not a fan of most of the canvas-weight materials for barn chores. I avoid Carhartt and coveralls for those reasons. I tend to go to ski-type pants (for the worst weather) and down coats for the superior warmth/mobility factor.

The LL Bean jacket is lighter weight, really nice and warm for fall weather, but not a super warm coat for heavy winter. The coat is a good, warm, winter coat. It would be great for winter barn chores if you like that kind of canvas-type material for chores.

Thanks for sharing!

I’m in FL and now I’m sure I need that LL Bean coat!

I keep reading this as in search of barn cats and wondering why you think you can get them at LL Bean.:rofl::slightly_smiling_face:

Maybe my arms are too long? It feels like I need T-Rex arms to get into the pockets?? I have left shoulder pain so hiking my arm way up to try and find the pocket is painful.
