JIN Stirrups vs. Fake JIN

I have both knees wrecked now, and my ankles are not strong. I LOVE my MDC stirrups. If you go on their website and email them, you can ask if they have any seconds In stock. sometime they do and will sell them cheaper. Being able to turn the stirrup and not have to twist my leathers has been a big help for me.

I purchased the Alu Tech stirrups from a local tack guru. The Stirrups are about $250us but I picked them up for $150 cdn. I am much happier with these than the Jin’s I tried.

Might be worth a look

Stirrups have been around for thousands of years and didn’t need testing then. I am perfectly confident in a hunk of metal being able to support my 150 pounds. I don’t think I have ever seen a stirrup break. The rubber bands on safety ones sure, but never the metal.

What a strange reply…thousands of years ago I’m sure their stirrups weren’t quite for what we use them for today.

I have seen them break, more than once. That was my point, the knock offs are made in Pakistan and china from shoddy material. Buy whatever you like, just making the OP aware of why the cheapies aren’t always the same.

^^^^^ I second this!! I have had Jins for about 2 years and I love them for all of the reasons you do, but a friend had free jumps on her saddle and when I would ride her horse, I felt 1000000 times more secure and comfortable in them. More pricey, but in my opinion worth it. I will keep my jins for awhile since I paid around $230 for them but I think the free jumps will be my next purchase

Can’t speak to the quality of fake Jins, but if you just want a wide footbed, there are a lot of much cheaper options with that feature. I have a pair of plastic Equiwings that I like a lot. Looks like they also have an aluminum model.
