At ER getting antibiotics and x-ray. Bite wasn’t looking right, so I went. The cat has had rabies vaccine, so that’s okay.
“Are you in a relationship with anyone who hurts you other than the kitty cats?”. LOL.

I got Rascal today! Nice and easy. Either there was just too much commotion Saturday, especially after the Tina episode, or a 48-hour time out made her change her mind. I let her in to feed her first of all (and blocked the vent), then went back out to the car for the carrier. I set it on the feeding table, and she came to suspicious attention but didn’t bolt. I just talked to her for a few minutes, telling her that CL wasn’t coming back, that I wanted her to live with me. She ambled around on the table taking a bite now and then and getting an ear scratch now and then, and when she finally put her head into the carrier, I gave her a boost shove and shut the door.
At my farm, she did not come out with tail blazing like the others. Walked out slowly, marched around the garage, looking at things, greeted a few known cats, came over for a scratch, more uneasy exploring.
Tina is still spooked, but the others are settling in slowly. Doing pretty well with my barn cats, actually.
The hand is very sore but looks better today than yesterday.
Rascal IS a smart cat. Bet she finds a way into your house.
Are there any more left at CL’s now … at least any that you are likely to see/catch?
Sorry about your hand… those little cat teeth and what they carry with them aren’t much fun. Glad you went to the ER.
I have been following this thread with so much interest - bless you for helping out these lucky cats (and CL before then).
YAY for catching Rascal - she seems like quite the smarty pants. I enjoyed the description of her marching out into her new home - she seems so regal!

Did you really get asked that question?
As though cats aren’t sufficient… as though you have a human partner with small fangs…we should make a Cat Thread about this question.

I imagine they see a few weirdos come through the ER, er, small fangs and all.
I’m also wondering if you got the rest of the stragglers.
Glad your hand is healing.
Yes, I really was asked that question.
Elvis, Mr. Man, and Blackie are still MIA. Will go out a few more times but haven’t seen them in many days.
Are there neighbors that may keep an eye out or call? Or CLs family?..Just don’t want any scared poor kitty left behind.

Ok. In honor of that question and your sore hand, I’ll bake up a related topic for the Mid-Week Cat Thread (if I can).
So thankful you’ve been able to get most everybody. I wish I had some wiggle room here but 6 plus two that visit and an uneasy at best truce, not fair for a displaced Cat Lady cat. So sad, so glad you are making this huge effort. Poor CL, RIP.
I will leave word with the neighbors between her place and the road.
Mr. Man and Blackie were very tough and independent anyway, only checked in a time or two a week when she was alive. Elvis is another matter. I really wish I could get Elvis. He has such a personality.
Glad you got Rascal, and things are going well for the kittens. Hope the cat bite doesn’t give you trouble.
Know anyone with a Hav-a Heart trap that you could borrow? Some of the rescues around here will lend them out to folks. Might work with Elvis??
Tomorrow morning when I go, I will walk the entire property, clear around the yard and up the drive between the pasture fences, going all the way up to the next-up-the-drive neighbors, and I will call repeatedly, “Elvis!” He knows and loves me; if he hears, he would come.
Ought to amuse the neighbors if nothing else.
I will try a trap for a few days if that doesn’t work.
Funny moment this afternoon on my farm. Really, things are going quite well with my barn cats and CL’s new additions. They all have room to get out of each other’s way, and CL’s (and mine, to a lesser extent) are used to being one of a pride.
But Sarge still has his moments. Sarge is hanging around since his lesser brain surgery and obviously is going to stay, but every now and then, even before CL’s cats came, he would suddenly spot one of the other cats and crouch and then charge. A few minutes later, he was fine. Just like a flashback to being a territorial tom.
So today, I was working by the gate. Sarge was nearby, and Bagheera came trotting around the corner of the house. Sarge fixated, crouched, and then charged - and Bagheera did absolutely nothing. Didn’t retreat a step, never ran, but it wasn’t standing his ground defensively, more like, “Huh?” Literally, Sarge almost ran into him. Bagheera was simply standing there looking at him like, “Dude, what are you doing? I don’t understand this game.” Sarge skidded to a stop right in front of him and stared for a few seconds, then relaxed and turned away. Bagheera gave a cat shrug and trotted on over to me for an ear scratch. The expression on both of them was hilarious.
Haven’t found Elvis.
I can just see this happening! CUTE!
Bless you for doing this for CL and the cats!
Oh, I hope you find Elvis, or that he’s landed softly on his own.

I might have a home for Satin! Will talk it over with somebody in the church on Sunday.
He’s such a pretty boy. CL named him Zebra at first before deciding that his exceptional fur quality merited the switch to Satin.
So far: Three placed, two more maybe placed with logistical arrangements still to be made, now one more maybe placed fairly locally. Progress!
