Jingles for Evil Burrito: post 774 COTH jingles worked again!

Totally sucks. So sorry. Wish I could help.

North.

DH’s two have stalls, and he said he can always lock the two year old out of her stall and let Odie have it, but that we definitely won’t be paying for him in that scenario. Of course that means in the worse weather, his filly will be without shelter. Granted she lived without shelter the first two years, and has a sheet, but dang.

Yeah, I’m sorta bummed. DH says he understands where she is coming from, but I’m of the mindset as FalseImpression: 11 days to find him a place, just saying GTFO when he’s on serious stall rest, could cost her two empty spots in exchange for a month or two more of reduced rate.[/QUOTE]

So sorry you are going through this. My fuse as of late is short and I’d be hard pressed not to ask for a sit down conversation between yourself , BO and your husband and politely explain that you’ll be looking for new services for ALL of your horses. Kicking out an injured animal in lieu of a new boarder on short notice vs coming to you looking for ways to make it work for Odie’s best interest would be enough for me to hit the road.

I’m basically with Lynnwood - not coming to you and DH first to say, ‘here’s the situation, how can we all make this work?’ is just too deep into not using one’s brain to start with the obvious. Unless she’s irritated at something about the arrangement and using this as an ‘excuse’, it’s a pretty disconcerting brain short. That said, I don’t know how many good boarding options there are on Whidbey Island so don’t burn the bridge too fast if you don’t have to. At any rate, trailering isn’t a good idea for Odie right now and neither is ticking off the BO of the place he has to stay at until he can move. Can you talk to her about options and see if she’s willing to work on it - esp. if she shows signs of realizing ‘I just pulled a real boner and I wish I hadn’t’?

Yeah, I dunno. She texted me a week or two ago asking how much longer I thought I needed the stall because after having three empty spots since March she had three people contact her about boarding. I told her I wouldn’t know until this appointment… :-(. That’s hardly “notice.”

If there was comparable available boarding, I know what I’d be thinking…but there isn’t.

So very, very sorry - that sucks. Don’t know how anyone with a heart could do that! I wish I was closer because I would arrange things at my place so he could have a stall. Gonna sound strange but do you have a garage that you could put a stall in? Panels, rubber mats and shavings.

I would definitely be looking to move ALL my animals from that place.

I live in town, and we have a muni code for no farm animals… And as the resident cop on the block, would be bad ju-ju for me to, yanno, not follow the rules .

I’ve calmed down, esp since it looks like DH is fine with Twitch getting evicted from her stall. However he went to meet his farrier this morning and told BO’s DH that “my wife is pissed at your wife,” and now she wants to talk to me on the phone. Facepalm. I woke up this afternoon and asked my DH what happened to “us” and why did I get thrown under the bus. He had a bit of a shocked/confused face, because honestly my DH thinks about two seconds into the future most of the time unless it’s directly related to food and the procuring thereof.

So since he’s off to Everett to see the surgeon regarding the fact that he has a numb finger… and his new truck is bluetooth equipped… I told him he gets to call her because HE broke it, HE fixes it. I didn’t want to talk to her until I was off work.

You could mention that Odie has quite an internet following and his fan base will be outraged! Lol.

So sorry - hope there is a good resolution and an even better Vet check this week.

Plus, isn’t a round of photo updates due for us Odie fans?

Do it like in Mister Ed…sell him as an Irish Wolfhound with an ear deformity!

LOL, on the husband tho…I have a feeling there is a lot of projecting going on…
But damn, you are not taking the stall for free…you are a paying boarder!
I hope your house sells soon so you can buy your own farm!

Yes, there are! I hope to provide most excellent xrays also fingers crossed.

OK, DH smoothed things over a bit, and Odie is merely moving across the aisle to a different stall. This makes things easier. BO still wants to talk to me about my donkey, not Rob, so I imagine she’s not happy that I wasn’t happy. Hopefully she’ll understand the why. DH does not want to move because he’s happy with the level of care, which is actually very good, so I expect I’ll be doing a lot of apologizing for not understanding where she is coming from and for being unhappy about the email giving me 10 days to find new donkey accommodations.

Seriously, anyone looking to buy a lovely house on Whidbey Island? Voted in the top 10 places to live . Excellent house, newer construction, wood floors, three bed/two bath, actual laundry room (washer/dryer in the garage is popular up here, yuck!), two car garage, gigantic covered porch. C’moooon, you know you want it!!

Hmm, as paying boarder of two horses for over 6 (?) years, and resident handyman (DH)…I don’t think you need to apologize all that much.

of course it would suck having to look for three stalls in ten days!

hum, why didn’t she mention to you that you could have another stall?
Poor communication skills obviously, but I am glad things got sorted out for Odie’s sake.

Yeah, phew. Her email said that it was possible to do that, but DH said (to her) that he wanted his horses to have shelter. DH seems okay with it now that we have no other options. I’m happy that he can stay (hopefully) and if not, my trainer has a stall for him if necessary.

Odie Christmas cards ? http://www.thebrookeshop.org/products/christmas-cards

Oh my…those are cute equibrit. But I still want a real life odie in my front yard (because my backyard is a lake!). Please lottery gods!!!

OK, real update time!

Leg looks good! Everything is lined up, we can see where he’s going to have arthritis pretty bad but otherwise the bone looks excellent. Per the vet, he won’t ever be a Grand Prix jumper.

He’ll be casted another four weeks, then assuming no issues, the back of the cast will be kept as a brace and taped on for support for two weeks. After that, probably move him back to my place but no Rory yet :(. Odie will be in Nika’s “night” paddock during the day, then either in with Nika or out by himself without Rory. He’s going to need time to get strong before I can risk them playing. That’s my scary thought…never had to worry about them playing before because Odie could more than hold his own, but now that he’s been gone and injured, I’m worried Rory will be overjoyed to have him back and be too pushy. Hence why they will be separated for the first bit. But I know Rory will be so happy to have his buddy back

So, here is an xray from today, and for comparison, here’s the first one.

And, adorable donkey pictures, of course!!

My little man
Sniff sniff?
Is this yours? Can I has it? (DH had to chase him a couple steps to get it back)
How many people does it take to xray a wittle burrito?

And a little clip of him walking outside. He really, really, really, is getting tired of being in a stall. As in, I’m glad he’s not 16hh. I don’t let my horses get away with dragging me, but honestly, a burrito in a cast? Pfftt! So he got to eat some grass and expend some energy ;).

So glad that Odie is healing! He is so damned adorable that I’m ready to join in with everyone else who wants there own mini donk as a pet! Heck, he’s not that much bigger than my dogs! But the ears!!! And his expressions!!! I’m in love…

such good progress. everyone involved must be very pleased.

and I echo the sentiment, I would love to have a little punkin like this. Much rather jog with him than a dog.

Would you be surprised to know that I did go jogging with Odie? After he got gelded, he said lungeing was not going to happen. So I put on my running shoes and shorts, popped in my iPod, grabbed a dressage whip and off we went! We called it jonking.

Now that he is truly healing, I will say that the horse 30+ years ago we had that broke a wing of his coffin bone, we put a cast twice on it, never did heal.
Our vet told us such breaks rarely heal, because they are where there is so much movement.

I am glad long ear fuzzbuzz there is doing so well.

I just want to say that I’m so glad that Odie’s healing and I’m glad that your boarding situation is getting worked out, but it must be shocking news that he’s not going to be your GP level jumper :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: Just remember, that dressage is always an option…

In all seriousness, I don’t envy you having to put him back out with Rory eventually. Boys just don’t get the idea of consequences!
