Oh no. (((hugs))) SonnysMom.
Thanks for the thoughts. She was a wonderful person. She was so supportive of everyone around her. We will all miss her.
This is a devastating loss. I am so sorry.
Please let her people know how much we thought of her.
I am in shock. I just saw the post on FB and couldn’t believe it. I am pretty sure she was a COTH poster on this forum because we got to know each other after discovering that we both had Dutch harness horses. It would be nice if someone could add her COTH name to this post. I am coming up blank at this moment.
Melanie Tallant. AKA kcmel. I did not know her but all who knew her speak so highly of her. She always gave me good advice on here and was always kind.
@SonnysMom so sorry for your loss.
Please let her family know she is mourned by e-friends on this BB.
Godspeed, @kcmel/Melanie
Goodness my condolences to the OP and all who knew her. Such a loss.
Sorry to read the news, that’s so sad.
That’s so sad. This one hits closest to home so far. Although I didn’t know her in real life, I feel like I knew her through this forum.
There are no words for this loss.
I don’t know her, but I feel almost as if I do from kcmel’s long presence as an active member of this COTH forum.
She has over 6,000 posts on this forum, joined in 2005 and was posting as recently as October 1st, less than 2 weeks ago.
I remember her posts as well-informed, helpful and pleasant.
She’ll be greatly missed on COTH as well. It’s hard to believe there will be no more from kcmel.

Oh no! I had a lot of interaction with her here. So very sorry to hear.
We hear about rider deaths a lot. It hurts more when it’s one of our own. Her voice and presence here will be missed beyond measure.
Dammit. This sucks.
What a loss for all of us here. kcmel will be missed.
She was a lovely person. She will be greatly missed both here and in the Unionville area. She always had a big smile and did such a lovely job with her horses. She was so encouraging of everyone. RIP
Is there anything we (COTH forum members) can do to help Mel’s DH?
I’m so, so sorry and my condolences to all of her loved ones. I didn’t know her personally, but like others on these forums, interacted with her and read her posts. I saw a number of people on Facebook post photos of her and speak highly about her riding, horsemanship, and volunteering at many events.
@MHM This is the jingles thread.
kcmel was one of our own. A friend of mine and I spoke to her husband Thursday. He had such hope then. He is having a particularly rough time now. I don’t know what best to say to do for him but I have asked her family to let us know if there’s anything we can do, or any service that will be open to the public.

What terribly sad news. My condolences to everyone involved. How awful.
How devastating. I’m another that only knew her through COTH but it’s clear that her loss will be felt deeply by many.
