Jump Saddle For a 15 Hand Draft Cross (Also, Naming Help + Photos!)

No suggestions but he is so adorable! Congrats.

If you really like Happy Hour but it’s been overused how about “Five O’Clock Somewhere?”

You’ll need something with a flattish tree, a minimal rear gusset and perhaps a K-type panel and full front gusset. Possibly a hoop tree, but again, not possible to tell for sure w/o a template (or a better shot of his back from the rear; the one posted is just of his butt rather than his back).

Thanks so much for your help, Kitt. After handling rank babies as a working student, I won’t even come close to standing near the rear of a horse I don’t know to do something where I’m not paying full attention to them. I’m really not sure what saddle brands possess those qualities. I have only had super forward flap XC saddles in the past (Stubben, Prestige, and County) and then a seperate dressage saddle. I have never looked at any saddle that was more of a close contact, hunter/jumper, or AP type. Any more draft cross owners want to share what they ride in? I just need a place to start looking and choosing what to sit in. I will then look through our tack shops and some ads to try some things for us and get a saddle fitter to look at the ones that I like. If it were up to me, I would be getting another Prestige monoflap jump saddle and a Devoucoux monoflap dressage saddle (which are neither pratical nor needed in this situation)!

I think there is a top horse named Five O’Clock Somewhere, unfortunately. At any rate, there are multiple of those registered too, one of which is in my area. This is turning out to be much harder than I thought! There is another Afternoon Delight in my area, lots of Happy Go Luckys, Happy Days, Happy Hours. We have a Pursuit of Happyness in our barn. Now that my other competition horse has a movie title name (PS I Love You), I think I am sticking with the theme. I am leaning towards That Thing You Do! or Up but am busy looking through IMDb.

The rear shot, although the shoulders are excluded, does appear to suggest a hoop tree. Duett makes some and Black Country makes a nice hoop tree jump saddle as well.
