Kaley Cuoco

I didn’t tell “everyone” they were uneducated - sexism is one of the surest brands of lack of education. It is uneducated to defend said sexism. One poster tried to defend a sexist remark by saying it was a cultural norm or generational thing… I said if you’re uneducated, maybe.
I wasn’t going to dip a toe back in here, but I feel the need to defend myself at this point.

I was (at least one of the people) called uneducated. I mean, I suppose it depends on your definition of “education,” but I do have a PhD…

It’s in physics, not linguistics, though, so perhaps it doesn’t count.

But what I do know is that language is fluid and things that were appropriate years ago are now no longer so, and vice versa. And for people to ignore changing “cultural norms” and “generational language” is pretty short-sighted.

I hate it when people misuse “less” and “fewer,” but that’s my own cross to bear. How on earth do I manage?

Now AGAIN, can we please get back to the point of the post and keep talking about this person/human/female/woman/lady/girl’s horses?
OK, I stand corrected. Your use of it in this medical way is certainly appropriate. I still maintain that it wouldn’t be appropriate in other types of contexts, but I see that in the medical field, it’s appropriate to use as you describe.
Male and female are also used in the military.

perfect!

It’s impossible not to like someone who so clearly JUST LOVES HORSES

That was fun. Looks like a strong horse and she handled it well!

Question about this show: Can anyone tell me what it briefly is about and the characters? I’ve tried to watch it, as I know people like it and it is supposed to be good, but just can’t get past the big canned laughter. Maybe if I got a head start, it would push me past the canned laughter and it would work. I want to try to give it a shot as you all seem to like it and it has a horseman in it. Thanks.

Among the people I know, Big Bang Theory seems to be a show that you either instantly fall in love with, or you don’t. Ever.

The first episode doesn’t really start at the beginning of the story. The beginning, i.e. the initial meeting between Leonard and Sheldon, is told as a flashback in a later episode. But, the first episode is the first appearance of Penny (played by Kaley Cuoco). So, probably the best thing to do is go online and watch the first few episodes to figure out who everyone is.

Thanks so much, NSP!!! Will do.

since it is filmed in front of a live audience, not sure canned laughter is the proper term

LOVE this show and find a lot of depth in repeat watchings

“since it is filmed in front of a live audience, not sure canned laughter is the proper term”

Oh, I didn’t realize. It sounded like canned laughter. Thanks for the info.

I’ve not seen the show, but I’m pretty sure that even shows filmed in front of a live studio audience can and have added canned laughter.

This is the only TV show that makes me lol 2 - 3 times per episode. Love the writing.

So true. I generally don’t watch TV show reruns, but I will watch BBT episodes multiple times and enjoy them just as much as I did the first time I watched.

In fact, I would watch the “Amy and Howard sing Neil Diamond” episode on a continuous loop all evening long.

No SuchPerson, thank you! That clip is wonderful, and just what I needed to perk up on a dreary day! Loved it. Love the show.

one of my favorite episodes.

because the pairings defined some of the characters and moved some of the relationships; particularly Sheldon and Penny

OMG WADDED PANTY ALERT.
