I didn’t tell “everyone” they were uneducated - sexism is one of the surest brands of lack of education. It is uneducated to defend said sexism. One poster tried to defend a sexist remark by saying it was a cultural norm or generational thing… I said if you’re uneducated, maybe.[/QUOTE]
I wasn’t going to dip a toe back in here, but I feel the need to defend myself at this point.
I was (at least one of the people) called uneducated. I mean, I suppose it depends on your definition of “education,” but I do have a PhD…
It’s in physics, not linguistics, though, so perhaps it doesn’t count.
But what I do know is that language is fluid and things that were appropriate years ago are now no longer so, and vice versa. And for people to ignore changing “cultural norms” and “generational language” is pretty short-sighted.
I hate it when people misuse “less” and “fewer,” but that’s my own cross to bear. How on earth do I manage?
Now AGAIN, can we please get back to the point of the post and keep talking about this person/human/female/woman/lady/girl’s horses?
