I was wondering the same thing. They must already be talking backup plans. They are slated to get more rain and only partially sunny days. I don’t think it will get cancelled but I could see them significantly modifying the CC course to keep it safe. The biggest issue they are probably having right now is trying to get everything set up and not being able to drive down a bunch of the roads.
I recall a recent Badminton 5* (maybe last year?) where they shortened and moved some areas of the course because of flooding. The XC area is pretty high on the elevation of the park though, so I would think it would get by okay, if a little soggy.
Agree the access roads and prep work will probably be the biggest factors.
Hi! Resident employee at the KHP here (I don’t work FOR them but I work in the park). There are areas of the park that tend to collect water, but it’s already drying up considerably and most of the XC is on incredibly well maintained, sloped ground.
At max maybe they’d consider moving the track slightly but I don’t see in any world that they’d cancel unless we got another round of what we just got.
Also a lex resident. I’m impressed how well the area is drying up over all. Where I board the creeks nearby have already dropped a few feet and the ground has actually been decent still. Now if it could warm up a bit more and stay sunny I would be happy

Snagged a video from the event’s stories this morning. KHP is fine as predicted
