I see that now! I realized it about an hour ago that he was probably just doing the 5*.
I did too! I know he was joking but considering he is going to Badminton next week…
the way I screamed
And considering we have MD who is trying very hard to offer a good event.
Rock Phantom is so relaxed and lovely!
I’m pretty sure he was being funny to support Kentucky. He’s a jokester.
I think it is to the great benefit of KHP to offer a 4* since that is the group we will be picking the Olympic team from. I can’t imagine a smaller course at Badminton or Burghley.
I am SO excited to watch Bronte Beach… I think the pair has an opportunity to do really well this weekend
I feel like someone from the production company took the feedback from our thread last year because I’m seeing far fewer camera shots that zoom in on their legs, much more of the full picture. I only noticed when one camera zoomed in on legs in Andrew’s test then all of sudden it went to a different camera view that showed the whole horse and rider pair.
possibly ESPN vs NBC?
Go Ariel!! One of my fav pairs😍
Quantum Leap is not in his top form today. I love this horse, anyone know what is going on? Atmosphere?
I was worried about his hind end especially in the canter, ouf. I didn’t see the walk though and usually that’s a tell all
I was noticing his hind end as well - doesn’t seem to be coming through from behind very well
Yeah, he looked very tight in his hind end. Probably just tense but what a bummer
He has always traveled very close behind at the canter - but I noticed a few bobbles. He looked great at the Maryland 5* last year and was not traveling so close behind.
Everyone fasten your seat-belts – Banzai and Yasmin have arrived.
And that ladies and gents, is how it’s done. Beautiful ride by Yasmin. Banzai is a stunner as always.
Anyone else getting a kick out of the two gate girls who are always walking in step with one another?
EDIT: What a tough act to follow - Artist and Monica looked fantastic and have clearly been putting in the work. Artist’s extended canter and flying changes were super.
I think Quantum was wavering between that place of a flat trot and “fancy trot” and the result was a very irregular trot with some beautiful steps in between. If he wasn’t that tense it would have been spectacular but I give it to Doug for trying his hardest to still do big things despite his horses tension.
Is NBC covering the Derby this year? Last year I think Fox did the Triple Crown races, or at least one of them. I remember because it was such poor quality I could barely watch or hear it.
Now that you pointed it out, instead of the final canter, all I see is Heckyl & Jeckyl walking in lockstep. Those two girls are cute.
Loved that last ride, the grey with the German rider.
