I agree with this 1000%. I’ve seen so many people treat their employees and students like crap (and been on the receiving end of it myself) with the excuse “but I love my horses.” Putting a kid (or an adult) in therapy because of what you say to them in a riding lesson and paying below minimum wage to the guy mucking your stalls doesn’t sit well with me either. And yeah, GM was pretty horrible to his horses, too–but he was just prouder and much more upfront about the way he verbally abused people in his clinics.
Watched the big Saturday night class late. Looks like CMH TV or USEF edited Blue Movie out. I think that is a mistake, it doesn’t help the SOL issue because it smacks of coverup. Just saying. . .
I looked for the next morning on CMH, couldn’t find it, and had the same response as you.
Most people consider a cover-up worse than the original crime.
I found Blue Movie in the replay the next night. CMH didn’t create a marker for her round in the sidebar, but the footage was there. Tried to find it tonight but couldn’t.
Now people are being ridiculous. CMH always cuts filming when the rider comes off. There is no cover up or conspiracy, the stands were packed. WHAT CRIME? Goodness. The rider came off, the horse panicked. I was also there.
Exactly. CMH pans away regardless of it being a 5*, 4* or a meter being filmed. There is no “conspiracy” Also- as a jumper- this isn’t the first time Carrots (barn name) has done this exact move (jumping to freedom). One of the vets was like- oh lord, Carrots- again.
I completely agree you can have a wonderful outward persona but still be a terrible horseman. And no, I wasn’t specifically referencing you- it’s come up a lot of times, not just in this thread but in every day life.
A lot of horse people, and animal people in general, make statements such as, “I like animals more than people.” Which is all fine and well but that’s why animal careers can be so thankless. Some people (purposely or unconsciously) use their preference for animals as an excuse for being a sucky human.
You cannot be a competitive horseman without working alongside other humans, so I don’t think someone deserves respect for being “great” unless they treat both humans and horses decently. If you are wonderful to people but awful to your horses, that is a problem. If you are amazing with your horses but terrible to the humans around you, that is an equally large problem.
WRT OT, I don’t care what people think. But I felt the need to speak up because I met him with a lot of negative expectations due to social media. And what I witnessed did not match my negative expectations. He seemed really in tune with his horses and also extremely professional. My two cents means nothing. I could be completely wrong. But if I have something positive to say about someone, I’m going to say it… especially if no one else can or will do it.
The left Big Phils fall in interestingly enough.
The fall is still there. CMH always cuts away after the fall.
I watched it last week right after and the round was there but now if you go to 1:28:35 you’ll see they cut away mid-sentence to an interview, skipping the fall
Just a general question about CMH:
If I am a premium member, am I not getting the ‘full replay’ if the event has been edited for whatever reason?
Cutting away live is one thing, and I do agree with that. However, I’m not sure I would agree with editing falls for premium members to watch on demand.
I can agree with showing the fall, but maybe not the mayhem. If you are payng for it, it should be available.
Why should they have kept in the 10 minutes of caring for the injured person after the horse and rider left the ring? I would be extremely embarrassed and not want that online. Not saying you’re saying they should have— just asking a general question and if anyone thinks an unedited version of an event regardless of what happens should be available.
PS there was a statement that the man who was hurt was released from the hospital within a day of the incident and sustained no serious injury. I was really grateful to hear this.
The full replay is available, I’m not sure what the problem is. CMH cuts away after a fall always. That is normal. If you’re expecting them following a loose horses around to be part of what you’re paying for that is not going to happen.
I’m not sure if you’re asking me? Im just answering other posters who are implying a cover up. There is no cover up. CMH always cuts away after a fall. There is no reason to keep filming.
That makes it sounds gross. It isn’t edited. If you are a paying CMH member (one with ads removed or the one with ads) you can scroll back through any class. If you are not a paying member, it doesn’t make a difference if it is a rider fall or a horse you want to buy- why should you be able to use it at no cost?
The falls are still there, but cmh usually makes it so that you can’t SEARCH for that horse’s trip in that class. So if you wanted go back and watch Blue Movie’s round from that class, the easiest thing to do would be to find who went before her in the class and go pull up their video, and then just let it keep running.
We’re saying the same thing. I think the round including the fall should be available, but the chaos that ensued wasn’t part of the competition and doesn’t need to be available for viewing.
No the fall is not still there. I’m a premium subscriber and looked through the grand Prix class, they cut out that section and it’s very clear where as it cuts off mid sentence around 1:28:30. I remember last week finding it somewhere around the 1:30 mark so that matches.
I may not have been clear. If I understand correctly, there was a fall that was shown on the live stream, and they cut away after the fall since obviously it is live, and no one knows how bad it is/was. I absolutely agree with that.
But, if it is edited after the fact, and the fall isn’t shown/ isn’t available anymore, and you are a premium member, I have a slight issue with that as it’s not technically what you’ve paid for.
Now, should the fall be tragic or gruesome, that’s a whole other ethical question as to if it should be available on a replay.
