Kidney Failure in Dog - We Let Him Go...

Thank you so much everyone.

SLW - I am so sorry for your loss. That’s the toughest part about losing them is getting used to them not being where you expect them to be. I can’t tell you how many times I looked for him when I was down at my barn feeding the horses tonight. :frowning:

Flurry - I love the word “cherished”. He certainly was.

My guy had some more time, how much is unknown but he was infirm and fragile. So I had to do what I told clients for 10 years as I hugged and cried with them: “better two weeks sooner than God has planned than one hour too late.” Last Sunday night we dealt with what was a close “one hour too late” so that made our decision. :frowning:

But gosh, we are all so lucky to love them and been loved in return. Fond memories.

So sorry for your loss

Many hugs Fessy’s Mom, Belvedere was a lucky boy to have you as his Mom.

Hugs to you! Wishing you happy memories and really sorry for your loss.

More hugs…what a gorgeous boy! Our oldest dog is losing kidney function…about
70% loss. Vet said at 85% it will be time. So far she seems happy and eats although without some creatativity required.

So sorry, Fessy’s Mom. I have now lost two beloved cats to kidney disease, I know how heartbreaking it is. Hugs.

Thank you again everyone. I am just so grateful that I did have a few weeks to spend before letting him go so that I could spoil him rotten. I will miss him so…

I am so sorry.

Thinking of you Fessy’s Mom ~ ((hugs)) continue ~ push onward ~

Thinking of you Fessy’s Mom ~ ((hugs) of understanding continue ~

Push onward `` ~ allow the ‘needs’ & schedule of your other ‘treasures’ to move you through your days ~

Thinking of you, Fessy’s Mom. I let my pup go back on August 29th, due to heart failure. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, but it was the right thing for her. Our pups are having the times of their lives in Dog Heaven, waiting for us! Be kind to yourself and know you did the right thing. <3

hugs

Unfortunately…I’m here now.:frowning: Snoopy my rat terrier rescue dog from Georgia lost a ton of weight (to me, 1.5 lbs to him, but he was 15 lbs). I knew, but sure enough…blood work shows renal & heart failure. I’ve been giving sub q fluids. He’s on KD and RC renal…plus I make him noodles/rice and chicken. Unfortunately, I think only his “sister” is gaining weight since she “shares”. He’s been eating well, but vomits sometimes. Just searched, found this, and needed to vent.
