KWPN-dressage or jumping?

I’ll chime in! I am the owner of the full brother to Contester (Contester II) and I have to say the bloodline is loaded with talent. These bloodlines can take you wherever you want to go, a great example of sporthorse breeding. Contester II and his full brother’s pedigree scream jumpers but when you look at the movement and the brain it says FEI Dressage! Contester II is showing I2 this year and has done very well in the the dressage arena. UB40 has also done well as producer of dressage horses. I love these bloodlines! I don’t think you could go wrong with this one.

Good luck![/QUOTE]

Oh that is neat–I remember your boy as a very young horse back when Willy Arts was showing him in the Sport Horse Breeding Classes–he was phenomenal. I also remember seeing him in his early under saddle showing as well as more recently with Chelsey Sibley! Lovely, Lovely Stallion! I think I have watched your boy grow up–its awesome to see him doing so well

this is a dressage bred horse–don’t try to jump it–it will hurt itself:winkgrin:

Thanks Goodpony! I bought Contester II as a yearling almost right off the plane from Germany. Willy showed him throughout his sporthorse career in hand. Chelsey Sibley has done a fabulous job with taking C2 up the levels and we look forward to Grand Prix just around the corner!

It is nice to have a local stallion that many have a chance to meet and watch grow up. We can’t wait until his 4 year old offspring take on the shows.

Watch for Contester II and Chelsey this year competing at I2!

Thank you again!

Sorry to hijack!! My daughter is riding a KWPN gelding right now - was trained lightly in dressage but he wasn’t a fan, so she’s working with him to be a hunter. He’s only jumping little sticks at the moment - he’s a nice but not great mover but so far seems to have a sweet jump over the tiny things he’s jumping right now…

From bloodlines this is more a dressage horse. I havent seen many Jazz offspring that have talent for jumping. However, if he tends towards the mare line he could be a bit more allround. I hope he isnt too sensitive and spooky, like many Jazz offspring is. With the more oldfashioned gelderlander it is probably the best bred connection to the Jazz blood. And yes, Apache is awesome, but also very forward…

I’m so excited–he’s coming this weekend!!! Really hoping he is rideable and as kind as my husband says-have a soft spot for big black horses!

That is exciting goodpony. I have had an interest in UB40 ever since Deb Harrison raved about his babies, post pictures once you get him, and fingers crossed he moves and jumps!

hahahaha! Im really hoping his talents lie more towards dressage (upper level/amateur suitable)–but you just can’t know for sure from just from looking at the pedigree—the plan for now is simply to focus on his basic dressage education–probably won’t even attempt any jumping with him till he is fit and balanced under saddle. I have 9 horses currently  some do mainly eventing, others do mainly dressage and others do jumpers/hunters—but mostly we focus on where they tell us their talents lie. No point pushing for something they are not cut out for or built for. If its a Dressage career he wants–and he turns out to be more a professional ride–we have appropriate connections to do right by him.

will post some pictures when he gets here–see if the real thing is as interesting as the pedigree might indicate
