KWPN Leads at the Olympics

The KWPN is the leading stubook at the Olympics with a grand total of 11 medals.

Here is a great breakdown of both the show jumping and dressage horses:

An amazing result for KWPN horses !

Soooo much eye candy! I’m planning my 2013 breedings and it was lovely being able to watch some of the stallions I have been contemplating! Plot Blue…love. Buy oiy that is a lot for one dose of frozen!

Interesting to see what studbook isn’t on that list.

Hmmm…we know HOL have won at least 2 Gold medals. Somethings fishy here. Now the whole list has no credibility

Maybe they did not have any Dutch eventers, that whole section is missing

Oh my Mr. Bayhawk there is nothing fishy with the KWPN’s list, you can be sure of this!

As my post states the results are for SJ and Dressage I did not post the eventing list.

Sorry but the list is 100% accurate and is researched and published by the KWPN.

KWPN are hands down #1 in SJ and Dressage medals with 11 of them and many are GOLD!

Ah Michelle, you shouldn’t cherry pick the disciplines. Equestrian is equestrian after all.

If I were to cherry pick , I would point out that a KWPN horse didn’t medal in individual showjumping.

It would be nice to see a tally of total medals in all equestrian disciplines in the Olympic games.

One should not be surprised at the KWPN medal total , as they register close to twice as many horses as the next studbook. They also sent 2-10 times the starters to the Olympics as any other registry so they should lead in the medal count. Just sayin…

Congrats to the KWPN none-the-less.

May be only semantics but KWPN did not send 2-10 times the starters… Those starters chose and were qualified on KWPN.

Go KWPN!!

I know they qualified and I’m not at all trying to detract from their accomplishments but here is the start list that Andy compiled. The KWPN had nearly twice as many as the second studbook and 10 times more than the last studbook on the list.

Stud Books with more than one starter
20 KWPN
12 BWP
8 Selle Français
6 Hannover
6 Holstein
3 Westphalia
3 AES
3 Oldenburg
2 Irish Sport Horse
2 SBS
2 SWB
2 Zangersheide

Of course-- they are the most open of books re: breeds/bloodlines, while having pretty strict standards for what they approve. Seems to me that the Dutch are as close as registries get to “a good horse is a good horse/ breed the best to the best…”

IMO, anything else in the world of sport horse breeding is roughly = to cutting off nose to spite face.

Sorry to point that the list isn’t 100% accurate as it state that Noblesse des Tess is from unknown studbook, when everybody know that she’s a SF.
She had all of her sport performances in France until 2011 when sold to KSA.
The official listing from the OG is also stating her as SF.

Bayhawk you are funny I will give you that.

Of course I understand Eventing is every bit as important as SJ and Dressage every bit, I did not have a list to post otherwise I would have.

So HOL had 2 medals vs. the 11 of the KWPN

A nice or good horse does not come in a breed.

For me I like all breeds, I just happen to LOVE KWPN horses but that is my choice and no one can argue that KWPN horses are amazing on many levels!

If breeders were more interested in breeding quailty horses for specific disiplines instead of breeding for a whichever WB club they want to identify with we’d end up having better horses.

EXACTLY!

Not sure I have understood the implications of your post Bayhawk, the KWPN don’t select other countries teams or riders, so can we conclude that riders are selecting twice as many KWPN horses as the other stud books?

Michelle , you’re seriously not gloating about 11 medals to 2 ??? Holstein only had 10 horses in the entire Olympics this year vs. KWPN’s what 40 ?

You might as well compare the medal count of the USA vs. Cuba !

It’s easy to gloat when the competition didn’t even field as many horses as medals that you won.

I said congrats to the KWPN. I meant that.

I also know that they have to breed twice the number of horses and they still are not the #1 ranked studbook and also did not have a horse medal in individual jumping.

These stats are telling ,especially when you breed twice as many horses as everyone else.

I would like to see you (KWPN) breed an equal number of mares every year as BWP , SF or Holstein. I would then like to see the results.

I’m thrilled by the success of the AES studbook. Compared to the others it is a tiny studbook. I don’t know how many foals are registered with it each year but it will be a fraction of the numbers being born into KWPN.

Lets celebrate success rather than running down other people’s achievements.

Holstein only had 10 horses in the entire Olympics this year vs. KWPN’s what 40

So we have to assume that riders prefer KWPN horses to Holstein

This statement is soooo wonderfully intelligent.

Thanks Bayhawk re the KWPN congrats.
