Lake St. Louis (Equine Productions) as a Winter Show Venue

Schedule at St. louis isn’t great either. People work why do all the small divisions go on the weekend? Sorry but don’t like the amatuer stuff on a friday saturday schedule. And it never fails to have an ice storm in jan and feb.

Don’t forget that in the 85’ x 100’ ring you also have the ingate area, people waiting to go in/out of the ring, standing along the rail, learning courses, etc… that takes away space.

As Serah said, if you know the Ledges schedule & how things flow, you can find quiet times to ride.

Bump. Any reviews of winter series at lake st louis?

I did the December and January shows last year. Numbers were down and IIRC they ended up cancelling either the Feb or March shows. Show itself was fine, just quieter than usual. Apparently a lot of people went to Omaha instead of the NEC last year for the free stall deal so hopefully this year numbers are back up in Lake St Louis.

I competed in their winter series a few years ago, and honestly, will never go back. The footing was appalling, and we had 2 horses strain tendons at the show on the same day. The entire barn pulled their horses from competition after that to prevent further injuries.

Hopefully they’ve fixed the footing, but after hearing such great things about Ohio, I don’t really see the incentive for people to return.

you guys mean Ohio, not Omaha. The management at St Louis is great, the facility is awful

Yes Ohio, thanks! Posted before I’d had my coffee

Completely agree. Shows are well run, facility needs some major improvements.

By contrast, for those able to make the trip, I have heard zero gripes about World Equestrian’s winter shows in OH. By all accounts, they seem to be knocking it out if the park for those who don’t travel south.

Thanks for the info everyone. Bad footing doesn’t sound appealing. I’d be coming from the west, so Ohio is way too far. Too bad, St Louis is a great central location.
