laparoscopy surgery

Haha, Zu Zu, it’s like going on vacation, right? The preparation to leave a farm makes it almost worth not going!!!

Thanks everyone! I think I was feeling really uneasy after having my pre-op with the hospital. I guess they have to tell you everything just in case, which is a little mental overload! I had my pre-op with my OBGYN yesterday and she seemed confident that it would be fine. I have a fairly large and angry cyst that has made a home on my ovary. Pretty sure they will have to take the ovary with the cyst. But my OBGYN said no running, riding, going to the gym, or lifting anything heavy for 3 weeks. (I was like well you obviously don’t know me very well cause I am not one to sit still!) She said the CO2 would probably make me feel ill the day after the surgery. Someone else suggested ice cream or mashed potatoes for sore throat after the breathing tube. Thanks for all the advice and suggestions - I reallly appreciate it. I’ve never had any surgery, so this is a little overwhelming! I’ve planned to have trusty steed taken care for 3 weeks, just in case.

I just needed to talk to actual horse people! haha![/QUOTE]

You probably won’t want to do much for the first week. I shuffled around on my “walks” which I religiously did daily. kind of like stall rest and hand walking :lol:. Somewhere in the second week I realized I wasn’t sore and tried to walk normally (my sister in law says I was power walking up a steep hill, but it was actually walking up a very slight grade. Seriously it was I couldn’t do much more.:)) I had to take vicodin that night.
I will say looking back at that time I was frantic prior to surgery about not taking care of my horses and not riding. I couldn’t imagine being inactive for so long. And was sure I would be back on after 7 days or kill someone out of boredom.
The 18 days I didn’t ride went by so quickly. I read books, I watched the whole series of 24. Now I sometimes wish I had some more time like that.
You will be on your feet sooner than you think. Enjoy the down time a bit.:slight_smile:

Meant = Barn preparation that’s all ~ it’s all good ~

I meant the barn prep is a but stressful ~~~ lots to do :eek::eek::yes: ~ it’s all GOOD ~ not to worry we will all be “repaired” and back to normal in the Spring ~

This ~ EXACTLY ~~~

This exactly ~~~ A “stay-cation” at that ~ :lol::smiley:

Hi new poster! I don’t know how you found this thread, but the last previous post was in 2010. So you need to check dates on threads that you search for.:slight_smile:
