I only saw the last 30 minutes or so. Horses looked to be jumping very well and the time was tight but do-able. Always an amazing course at Pau but I think one needs a particular type of horse, very adjustable, clever and able to cope with the constant turns.
Iām a bit surprised Doug Payne has never done Pau. It seems like this description of the course would fit his training style well.
How do we all feel about her winning a 4L at Blenheim a month ago and then taking the horse to a 5L? I have seen her horse care first hand and itās impeccable but this definitely brings some questions. Hopefully this isnāt a trend.
But if not for the MIM clip, the horse may have gone down or gotten hurtāhe landed right on the back of that fence. So the āif onlyā game can go both ways.
Exactly. āWhat Ifsā donāt get you very far in eventing.
What ifs=pure fantasy.
Getting a horse into Europe post-Brexit is now so expensive and difficult it inhibits participation in European shows by Brits and UK-based riders and vice versa. Several British showjumpers are relocating into Europe to save themselves the hassle.
Ros Canter produces top horses because she is an excellent horseman and that involves a lot of good judgement. Doubtless her horse will now come home and have a couple of months off in a field before starting back into work in the New Year. Unlike the USA, UK eventing stops in October and only starts again in March.
āWhat if you do fail, and get fairly rolled in the dirt once or twice. Up again, you shall never be so afraid of a tumble.ā ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
She is the best judge of her horse.
You get eliminated. Yuh, yuh, Iām sure thereās a maxim about that, too. For every maxim there is an equal and opposite maxim.
Show jumping starts at 10:00 PM EST. Dutton has withdrawn.
I wonder why he has withdrawn. I realize Z is older now. He must have come up with some aches and pains. I understand that! I had aches and pains this morning too!
German commentary only available for non-members.
Boyd was brilliant in showjumping. Beautiful clear. That horse is phenomenal and looked amazing. So glad to see Boyd with a truly world class horse.

OTās horse jumping clear but looks very sore, swapping behind to cross-canter around a lot of the corners and tighter turns
Ros Canterās classic, neat, efficient riding style reminds me of Michael Jungās.
CMH:
- Landrover Kentucky 5*
- Aachen (all disciplines)
- FEI Nationās Cups where livestreaming is provided (Boekelo is the one that matters to me)
- Mars Maryland 5*
- Virtually all of the show jumping 5*s & Nationās Cups
- FEI championships
H&C:
- Carolina 4*
- Lumuhlen 5*
- Great Meadow 4*
- Pau 5*
- British-based events & show jumping shows
- An increasingly weak list of shows/clinics/British-based content (would not be surprised if the other US based competitions move to CMH next year)
Independent Livestreams:
- Badminton 5*
- Burghley 5*
Honestly, I was an anti-CMH person for a long time but they are heads & tails above H&C IMO. They allow you to navigate competitions by individual rider, they post videos almost immediately (huge plus for us in North America), and their commentary is generally much better.
I think people get sticker shock from CMH because they charge an annual fee vs. a monthly or per event fee, but the value is definitely there if your a big consumer of top level equestrian sport. On a per event basis, itās a much better deal for a much higher user experience.
@DogWithBigEars - Did you watch or see the video? They didnāt just ātapā it & it fell. They obliterated it & should thank the Lord that there was a clip to save them a nasty fall!!!
