Let's talk breeches

I just got some FITS pull ons, and trust me, I have curve (and a “bass”… lower back/upper ass). These suckers fit my thighs, waist, bum… you name it! They’re also grippy, and they have this awesome mesh panel that hides my imperfections… they’re pretty darn flattering!

I’m the same …30/32R and curvy. I’ve tried on SO MANY PAIR…I finally found a pair that fit like a glove & are super comfy…and yep of course they are TS Trophy Hunters. I was lucky enough to find them in my size at a consignment store and paid $80 for them. I definitely wouldn’t have paid that much for a pair of breeches that I might show in a few times a year if they weren’t PERFECT. ahh love them.

I will start by saying these breeches are expensive. These breeches have also lasted me 15 years and many weight changes. I wear them for all 3 phases, and they are still stark white. They also never look dirty, despite my efforts. I showed about 10 times year on average and also wore them in clinics.

I love Pikeurs. They are high waisted, fit my curvy thighs and butt, and look great. I feel like they keep everything tight and in and are never see through. I wear a size 10 in normal clothes. I am struggling to find the exact model (high waisted, no belt loops) that I have, but I would try any of their breeches.

Here they are in their 15th year without a single thread out of place:

Totally worth the $300 (which is $20/year).

The Trophy Hunters were the only one at the tack store that fit me as well!! UGH! I need to either stalk that facebook used tack site or hunt down a consignment store!

Count me in with the TS Trophy Hunter fans. I don’t understand why someone who manufactures breeches does not realize that there are SO many of us out there who fit in these breeches and make a knock off pair for cheaper. It can’t be that difficult!

I did score a pair of new TS Trophy Hunters a consignment sale here for $20! That was a most excellent day. Also bought two pairs of like-new Equine Couture breeches for $20 each at that sale (and a bunch of other like-new stuff. I thank the nameless rich person who had too many clothes and was my exact size!!) and those are my second favorite for fit.

Again - if the Trophy Hunters fit you, try Horze Grand Prix! They are awesome - I like them even better

Paid a month’s worth of feed and hay for a pair of Equissentials Deerskins. Many moons ago. They still fit great, look great, and were well worth the investment. For daily riding, I love jeans, but my saddle doesn’t. So the Goode Rider jeans are my favorites. I didn’t find them to run small, as I’ve seen others post. But then again, I have the body of a 12 year old boy.

I have the wheat Pipers for my show breeks. I like them because they are the ONLY breeks I don’t need to wear tights under. That material is great–though I rubbed myself so raw at a schooling show (bikini area where you would shave–inside of thighs) that my skin scabbed over! It was waaaay hot that day.

That said…they travel so badly I want to cry. I have to tighten my belt so tight that it starts to hurt my back.

But it’s worth it for me because I HATE wearing tights under my breeks. I slip and slide all over.

Here are the wheat Pipers. I gave ya a butt pic so you could see the teal embroidery…

I’m also the same size range and curvy, and I LOVE my Equine Coture breeches. They’re reasonably priced too

I also splurged on a pair of the Tredstep breeches at Rolex, and am really liking those as well.

I love love Kerrits full seats, I find them very comfortable, I can move around in them and they provide enough stick, but I do t get stuck[/QUOTE]

Echo this. Very comfortable, just enough stick, and reasonably priced.

A thank you to all of you FITS fans out there in COTH land. We love that YOU love our FITS Full Seats. Just an FYI though that we also now make a knee patch style with the same fabric and features as the full seat FITS PerforMAX styles. Check out the FITS Megan breech.

Hey, FITS;
Just an FYI back atcha:
As nice as your breeches are, you’re NOT allowed to advertise on the forum!

I love love love the full seat pipers for schooling (though I agree that the waist is a little stretchy and I have to wear the belt, but when I do they stay just fine). I like the wheat ones, but with the contrasting chocolate seat (which I really like), I wouldn’t do a recognized show in them. However, if you are into the knee patch ones I wouldn’t think it would be noticeable. If you are okay with the teal smartpak logo, I’d say those could be a good option. They are maybe a little darker than I’d wear in dressage but you could always wear them SJ-you see quite a range of whites/tans, etc. in SJ than you do in dressage.

I really wish SmartPak would do some Pipers in more show acceptable colors. While I really like the contrasting stitching etc, it’d be nice to have a tan pair that was all the one color with the same fit!

I ended up buying the SmartPak Pipers during the 20% off sale. Rode in them for the first time x/c schooling last weekend and they seemed to do the job. I do need a tighter belt because I felt like they were getting a little low in the butt as I initially started riding but either they got better or I ignored them.

I invested in TS to compete in. I found the same thing with the Tredsteps not fitting. (I was so excited about them!)
I have 3 favorite pair of breeches
-TS

  • FITS side-zip. These are not the ones with the ‘fanny pads’, but low-rise, side-sip, knee patch. They are a nice thinner material. I adore them. i think they were about $119.

-Equine Couture. I was surprised these fit, but they are my go-to schooling pants. They are again a thin material. (I am not a fan of super thick cotton pants) They are comfy around the waist and have wide belt-loops and neat stitching. I ended up buying 3. I think they range around $70-80. Everyone always asks me what brand they are, I think just the name of the brand and some of their other clothing sway people away thinking they are too ‘hip’ or ‘cheap’ but they fit really well.

Le Fash NY breeches are by far my favorite! They fit all body shapes really well and come in some awesome colour options! www.lefashny.com
