Longevity & the Older Jumper

Now I want to bring all the teenaged jumpers here! Just something that really called to me about this particular horse. I’ll message the seller. Maybe this trial he’s on will fail.

Oh my gosh Emily. When I grow up … I’m 52 … lol
I want to ride like you. Your position … ability to stay tall… and propensity to just wait. Your horse is divine. Chefs kiss!

I love Richard Spooner. He is such an inspiration to have kept not one but two late-teens grand-prix jumpers sound and competitive in his career! I didn’t know anything about him except that people tended to side-eye his equitation, but a video of him autoplayed on YouTube when I was on one of those “day-in-the-life” Noelle Floyd rabbit holes. I was really taken off guard by him. He just seemed so much more involved than the other pros giving those fluff interviews. So naturally I dug a bit deeper on his riding career. He might be my favorite pro!

100% my favorite! I am always obsessed - you can watch his rounds at showgroundslive . The clinic I did with him in dec 2018 changed sooo much for me. He rode my horse for 45mins and his appreciation for all the quirkiness that is my horse was beautiful. He tried to answer every question Richard asked of him and he was so kind. He said my horse (then 19 hot OTTB) was a perfectionist and a pleaser so we always have to think “rainbows and butterflies”. He brings a calmness to a horse… it’s amazing

Richard Spooner is amazing! I recently came across an absolutely fabulous clinic series on YouTube - (thank you Paws and Rewind for making this available to us!!) - it is fantastic. He is such a kind, accurate and motivating clinician. I would love to have a lesson with him, he phrases things in a most constructive and encouraging manner, while telling the rider exactly where the improvement needs to be made.

I’m curious if anyone knows where this is? I’m guessing California and the venue/stabling is positively jaw dropping stunning!
