I have actually been more than once to look down on occasion.

One of the books required for Lendon’s youth dressage festival a few years ago was loaded with pictures of riders looking down. The name escapes me, but riders were told that looking down is not correct. When our kids opened the book, that was the first thing they noticed. Our b/o is one of the ones who reminds us that yes, where you look is where you will land. I’ve experienced that the hard way.
