Looking for a bridle with SOFT leather!

You can’t go wrong with Black Diamond Designs, HK Americana, or HK Aramas in the new options (though I believe the fancy stitched Aramas bridles run in the $300-$350 range). All of them are lovely quality and are far superior to other options in their price range.

Even if Black Diamond Designs isn’t the typical buttery soft out of the package, that is, IMHO, a good thing. Well made, long lasting bridles often require some break in time, but age beautifully and last forever.

Though Ovations can be hit or miss, I bought this one in 2022 and am very pleased with it:

The leather is soft and supple, yet substantial and not thin and flimsy, it’s well padded, and the stitching and hardware are of good quality. I know someone else with this model and theirs is also lovely. These are definitely the best in the $150ish price range including reins IMO. Tory is also a very solid option in that price point, though their options are a bit plainer than most.

For used options, you can’t go wrong with Edgewood (many used ones are oiled dark, though they may retain a bit of a red undertone), New Cavalry if you can find it, older Beval, etc. They sell quickly on the used market and can be hard to find due to this, however. Hadfield’s is also great, but I almost never see those used and in good condition for under $350 without reins. I adore the older Crosby bridles as well (the ones that were made in England), but they’re getting up there in age and the majority I see on the used market are not fancy stitched.
