I can’t go to page two. I wish you were closer and you were looking for an Aussie saddle. I have on that is ridiculously narrow. My dad bought it for me as a graduation present heck about 18 years ago and I don’t know how I ever rode my horse Cashel in it at the time. It doesn’t fit any of my horses, well I haven’t tried it on my gelding who is tiny…
I was having similar problems with page 2. Now it appears you ARE the first post on page 2. Weird.
I’d not rule out a comfy Aussie saddle but I honestly don’t like the thigh blocks much. I like to be able to bail out easily if I have to.
Hi Daydream,
Did Jackie happen to say anything about your horse having exactly the same back as my mare Consolation? She mentioned there was one out there, and I wonder if it’s you!
She did build a custom Stonewall for Consolation and it fits beautifully. Too bad I’m having unrelated problems with the horse and can’t ride her.
BarbeyGirl…yes, Jackie did mention that. I’m sorry to hear about your problems. That is terrible luck. I hope it works out for you. Yes, my boy is really narrow. I’ve had a devil of a time with fitting him.
You have a Painter Barb don’t you? My gelding is old Spanish appy type…Choctaw Sundance line on top (Crazy Legs) and out of a Sorraia type mare(Little Star). Interesting cross but he turned out lanky, narrow and rangy.
My TBx is a medium-narrow and I got an aussie that works well for her. My saddle fitter sent Down Under Saddlery her tracings and they resized the tree to her size. I got the saddle 50% off from their clearance page, so it ended up being very affordable. I don’t like most aussie saddles, but this one is closer contact with shorter flaps, and is well balanced (not chair seat). I’ve been doing dressage work in it, as well as endurance conditioning. The model I got is the Master Campdraft Deluxe.
