Looking for an OLD Saddlebred Stallion Photo

I mean OLD. This guy was foaled in 1947 (doesn’t seem OLD to me, but I know he would to younger people)!

I had the photo in a collection of Saddlebred photos given to me as a child. The photo said Vanity’s Sensation of Crebilly, but when I have looked at other photos of him online he does not look anything like the horse in the photo I had. I’ve never seen a horse that did.

Can you help ID it? It was a black and white photo, and the horse looks solid gold, or solid silver – very, very shiny coat, mane and tail the same color as the coat. I don’t know if the photo had an added “finish” or gloss or some other process, but it was beautiful. The horse is standing in the typical Saddlebred “stretch” pose. It was my favorite photo in the collection, along with that of Society Rex as a mature stallion (love his colt photo too).

These were loose photos, probably cut from a magazine or show program.

Maybe the folks from the museum/Hall of Fame in Kentucky (Horsepark) can help you out?

Possibly Veiled Prophet or Captain Courageous?
Scroll down, I realize these are not in color, but if there was a color print of the horse, might show the very high sheen.

her blog is also a great resource for older horse pics.

Another option - if you are on Facebook, look up a page called Around The Arena - Brendan Heintz publishes it - him or some of the other followers could probably identify them for you.

OMG! Vanity’s Sensation of Crebilly was the sire of my first ASB!

Maybe it was his son Vanity’s Golden Heir, about 1/2 way down the page.
