Looking for CBD recommendations (dog has arthritis)

Before I spend money on something I really know nothing about, I would love to hear some recommendations from people who have use CBD in some form to help their dog with arthritis discomfort… Recommendations please!

What country are you in?

In the USA.

My dog also has arthritis and is starting to notice it more. Also in the U.S. Know nothing about CBD but if it makes him happier, let’s do it … but yeah, what should I buy. Thanks !!!

One of our small animal vets really turned me onto CBD oil a few years ago; his anecdotal observations have been that it indeed helps with pain. We have been pleased with it. We use this brand primarily: https://kultivatewellness.com/products/kultivatepethealthcbdoil. Currently, our senior Cairn with stifle issues gets it once daily (in addition to other meds) – just squirt the dose from the dropper into his mouth. There are other forms, like treats, but we find the oil very easy to administer. No side effects, and so far no tolerance, in that he’s been on the same dose a year or two now.

I used this for a variety of animals, cats and dogs, for issues from cancer to stomach upset
It comes in a variety of strengths I believe.

Is there a reason that you don’t want to use something that has been proven to help with arthritis? I am not entirely against CBD, but not instead of many other treatments. I definitely would consider it in addition to treatment that wasn’t working well enough, but it wouldn’t be my go-to drug instead of something designed for pain relief/joint comfort.

Yes, there is a good reason. Senior dog with marginal kidney values, and NSAIDS are out of the question.

My senior dog Riley is on his second bottle of this and I have tried other products. He does AWESOME on this: https://www.feedpetpurveyor.com/new-sentesa-tri-active-capsules-medium-large-dogs.html

He also just completed a series of Adaquan injections, … but we started this before the Adaquan and it certainly helps him be pain free.

I have also used this brand’s other products to help take the edge off my 4 yr old dog that is afraid of fireworks. I love this brand. Tell Jennie at FEED that Ona sent you.

I own a cbd company and am happy to answer any questions about cbd. Arthritis is a very common use in horses and dogs for pain management and quality of issues. What size and age is your dog?

Munching, how do you administer the Sentesa? Do you open the capsule and sprinkle it on his food? Does he eat it readily enough?

And have you tried the Edibites? I was thinking about ordering them for our 10 y/o Welsh Terrier but she is already getting Cosequin so may not need the additional Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate.

I just open his mouth and pop it in. He is a 65-70lb boxer cross, so he has a good sized mouth. He is super good about taking them and seems to understand that they help. He just swallows them. I am sure you could sprinkle it on food since it is a powder.
There is a small dog size on their website:

I have and do use Edibites. Those I give him when we hike a little harder or he plays extra rough. They are really, really dense and he has some missing teeth and while he likes them and takes them readily from me, he has a harder time chewing them. And they are too big for me to push down his throad like a pill. He needs at least 2 if not 3 of the edibites 2 times a day to make a difference, so I just use them as pack up. But I do keep them on hand. It takes about 30 mins to kick in. I would be down to try their soft chews.

I have also used https://www.lazarusnaturals.com/
My husband loves their products. He uses the balm, oil, and I take the capules daily. I have used their products on the dogs, but I feel that I need more “juice” to see the results that Pet Releaf can give with one pill.

The great thing about FEED, Pet Purevyer, (a part of the fact that Jenni the owner is super awesome and very knowledgable), they have a rewards program and you can gather points for free items and treats. She ships me my food for the cat and dogs weekly. She was down the road from me when I lived in Tampa, but we moved to PA this summer and she has not missed a bit putting my packages in the mail. She will pop free food samples in the package too, if you ask her.

what is the name of your company so I can look you up.

Hello, my dog is a 15 year old Boston, about 25 lb.

Fair enough; I just haven’t heard of it being universally helpful for joint comfort. It seems to work for some, not at all for others. Worth a try; maybe take some notes so you can remember exactly when you started and whether you notice improvement.

They have an image on their website of a softchew version of Edibites. But it isn’t listed as a separate product so I’m not sure how to order it. I guess I will call them and ask about it.

I would ask Jenni the owner of FEED where I get my dog’s food from to order it for me and ship it up.

I am sure if you called her she would do the same for you.

I just feel like I go through a bag pretty quickly due to my dog’s weight, so the Sentesa pills are better and more cost effective.

What does your dog weigh?

I have a senior dog with kidney issues. I give Galiprant and Gabapentin.
Sure her kidneys are stage 2 but she also hurts when she walks and is 17 so I have to weight the pros and cons. I can’t expect her to live more than 5 years more, so I’d rather have her comfortable.

I’ve tried several CBD products NONE of them helped. And I’m MM user. I have never seen a change using cbd on myself or my pets.

If this was directed at me - she is about 23 lbs. I was thinking I could feed the soft chew Edibites as treats. But I will probably go with the Sentesa capsules instead since she is already getting Glucosamine and Chondroitin in her Cosequin.

OP - how was your dog’s arthritis diagnosed? X-rays? And where does he have it - neck, back, hips - ???
