I’m a mom who rides/shows and we have 40ish horses under us (literally…we live in a barn) and my 6 year old daughter does not ride unless she asks. So far it’s been about 1-2 leadline classes a year.
From a financial standpoint, I’m not upset

100% agree!!
I’ll say it “good moms” aren’t this blatantly negligent for a moment in the “spotlight”. this mom may have some good qualities and mean “well”, but I am sorry a mom who physically endangers their child by not supporting their head and neck is not good. I was 13 babysitting my neighbor’s kids and knew this… and I didn’t particularly have any interest in children but I was able read a pamphlet on how to not accidentally hurt or kill them
not everyone who births a child is good at caring for and raising a child. being a parent i am sure is hard, I am not one for that exact reason at 35 and sterilized myself so that I don’t even have to ever think about it.
I would like to know if there were any repercussions about this situation. Does Safe Sport deal with trainers putting clients in obviously dangerous positions? Nobody seems terribly concerned about Brooks’s actions—not leaving the ring, refusing offered assistance, not removing the child from the pony, etc. I was horrified when I saw this clip. And afterward were the steward and paramedics at the out gate? Was the child all right?
IMO it’s child abuse. The baby’s spine and neck were definitely compromised.
Well, Dr Keyboard Warrior… your diagnosis would be incorrect and kid is just fine. This happened about 3 months ago. Let it go.
It doesn’t just happen at the big shows like Devon & Upperville.
County Fair leadline was important enough to one local family so the pre-kindergerten kids had to borrow Minis for the class. One of which had to be dosed with Quietex.
I broke my Rule about No FB fights when a grandma posted asking for “small pony or mini bit” for leadline because “little one says she has to have reins and a bit”
I said leadline is usually done in a halter & suggested attaching reins to that. Also said this is to spare pony’s mouth.
IMHO, riders who can’t ride don’t get a vote on the equipment.
Thankfully, Granny accepted my suggestion… at least in writing, I didn’t see the class.
I have to wonder about the mother - was she too intimidated to speak up and protect her child? How could she watch that and NOT do something?
Oh she loved it. Type of person to just want to breathe the same air as C. Br.
