"Losing" the hunt

Well RAR you’ll get no pity from me. :sleepy: :stuck_out_tongue: Here today it was 25 degrees, cloudy, spitting snow and a strong west/northwest wind all.day.long. I was out on the tractor for an hour then gave up…

You got to ride, you got to ride and I am pea green with envy!! :cool:

Yeah, yeah… I didn’t REALLY expect any sympathy for my “miserable” morning spent riding my horse in the sunshine… :smiley:

But it was an interesting (albeit frustrating) experience in trying to “hilltop” on flat ground.

It’s snowing here and one of my horses has gotten so fat I had to let out the surcingle on his blanket. Months of wood stove use has left my house looking like Pompeii. Ash everywhere.

I’ve gained 5lbs.

I hate you! :winkgrin::smiley:

JSwan - you’ll be able to stop hating me next July, when it’s 115 here.

<Pssst, JSwan, this is between you and I>…how 'bout we meet in Phoenix, abduct RAR and bring her back east for a taste of real winter??? We had snow flurries, steady to strong wind and a high of 22 degrees in KS today?? Was it that nice in VA-VA land today??

Sounds good to me. The nerve - trying to placate me by saying where she lives it will be 115 degrees in the summer.

Oh yeah - but it’s a dry heat! :lol::smiley:

The snow is melting enough that there is snow on top, and a thick layer of ice underneath. It’s just so much fun to clear the barn driveway. happy happy joy joy.

Plus - the paths to the barns are now dotted with dog poop. So I have to duck, dive, dodge, duck and dive my way down to the barns.

I went out the other day and thought a local road was plowed - looked ok when I got on it so I was driving like a bat outta hell. Crested a hill and on SH** - nothing but snowpack with ice underneath. Well - whaddya gonna do? I didn’t touch the brakes and literally slid all the way down that road in my BAT (Big A** Truck). Turns out there were a lot of wrecks on that road. D’oh!

Stupid is as stupid does.

I grew up in NH. Went to school in Cambridge, MA (where the weather was generally milder than in NH, but we still had winter).

Peace Corps - 2 years in Malaysia
First job & first kid - 4 years in Atlanta.

Then 4 years in Cleveland & 15 years in Detroit.

So with the exception of those 6 years immediately post-college, I’ve seen / waded through / shoveled / curse more than my fair share of snow and ice and sleet.

Which is why I now live in Arizona :yes:

RAR, 15 years in Detroit, winters included??? <thump> You have Brass Ovaries and I bow down to you. :eek: :stuck_out_tongue:

I have done the reverse, my birth certificate was issued in Florida, did SC, VA, back to SC then KS. But even the toughest KS winter (this one) ain’t nothin’ compared to a Michigan winter!! :dead:

ROFLMAO!!!

and if you get to old Granny Hawkins’ place, you done gone too far!

( I think 1902 is recent history in Virginia, no?)
