Luxury "gifts" for a junior rider

To be fair to the OP, she did state that they had 500k+ invested in all of the horses, not “per” horse. Everyone (including me) has kind of jumped on that 500k number. But 500k for a group of horses (5, 6, 7…?) is really not that much money in the h/j world. So I don’t find that part of it inconceivable. It’s the rest of the story that leaves a lot up to interpretation (a temporary lease on an older/used Range Rover, for example, is a very different story than a “gift” of a brand new one).

it is also possible that the junior in question is puffing things up for the benefit of the OP.

Kid may be a working student driving a farm vehicle, and as far as the Rolex, it could be real or it could be what street vendors in Hong Kong called a “copy watch.” Value of horses, who knows. Owners could BS the working student who could then add her own inflations to the story.

Who knows what the horses cost versus what they are “now worth” because the current owners have sunk so much money into them? You could easily buy let’s say a $30,000 horse and now decide that it’s worth $100,000 because you have put those expenses into it.

Again, nothing illegal, but if it were me I would just keep my eye on the situation to watch the comedy play out. If they do indeed end up winning everything and selling horses for high dollar, than hurrah. My guess is not.

I did not think that on this thread, but the thought definitely crossed my mind on the others, though not that plots were being tested so much as characters. And then I got to thinking how terrible I would be at making up characters.

Yes!! Very creeeepy!!

I need to educate these people on the ageless and fantastic sport of polo, if they are looking to fill up barns with nice horses and hand out vehicles. I don’t even want a Range Rover but would gladly take a shiny new F550 in the same price range.

Agree with the horse value, however - a leased car is still very creepy and seriously overstepping boundaries IMO

This thread feels farfetched to me. I’m thinking this scenario is made up to stir the pot.

If this is a working student situation, and the farm has a fleet of vehicles, a vehicle could easily be provided to the student. I suspect though that there is some information inflation going on, and perhaps a chain of BS from horse owners to junior to OP, or else a string of gossip that isn’t even direct communication.

OP said gift of Range Rover, not the use of Range Rover… so my comments are based on the OP. I’m sure there is puffing and as others have mentioned, who knows if this is even reality.
