Magnesium if on Vermont blend?

Yes …that was my measurement as well

Odd. The website clearly states 1/4c+ for that size horse. The way her response is worded doesn’t seem to make sense with “how much should I give” - “VB is supplying 1 tbsp per its daily serving”

I wonder if it was Nicole herself who answered that. I’m friends with her so I might bring it up to her.

OK yes that would be great if you could ask her… I have been giving double of what that response was so I’m hoping I’ve been giving the correct amount all these years

Same with me… That’s why I was really surprised and confused at the same time when that was her response to me??

@JB did you ever get any clarification as to the correct dose of VB Pro ??

I forgot to ask her what that exchange actually meant, but the website is the correct dose. The whole exchange still makes me think she was referring to how much salt is in a serving, not what a serving size of VB is

But Vermont blend pro is 23-25% salt, not 50? So there’s about a tablespoon in the 1/4 cup serving…?

It’s right there on the website - 23-25% salt, and 13-14gm salt in a serving, which is 1/4c for a 1000lb horse. No, that’s not QUITE 1tbsp, which is more like 17-18gm but also depends on the size of the flakes you’re weighing, but it’s in the ballpark

There are also roughly 4tbsp in 1/4c, so yes, 25% of that is 1 tbsp.

Here’s the email reply again

“VB is providing 1 tbsp [salt] per day.”
“A 1000lb horse should have 2tbsp [salt] per day” (correct, it’s about 1tbsp per 500lb)
“since your horses are 1200lb, you could do 2tbsp [of salt] per day and be good”

Since there are 4tbsp in 1/4c, then

is correct, as a full serving of VB Pro

I can only assume that the question somehow became about salt, without seeing the question actually sent. I don’t know.

All I know is the facts that are on the website, how many tbsp in 1/4c, and roughly how much 1tbsp salt weighs.

It’s still strange though because my original question was if additional magnesium should be added ontop of what VB Pro provides in a full serving ?? And also original question was asking if 2 tablespoons twice /day was correct for 1200+lb horses …to which she replied only 2 tablespoons per day was the correct dose ??

I can only assume her brain (or whomever was actually replying, I don’t know if it was actually Nicole) had something else front and center.
