Nice appearance and lots of options for the exterior but there doesn’t seem to be any description of what the inside features are. I like Big D’s. Good company and I order from them often. I might call them and see what the ‘business’ side of the bag looks like.

Ha! Found it! I got the bag from Griffinbrook, in New Hampshire, at their Equine Affair booth.

It is on their website, shown in the lower right on this page:

http://griffinbrook.com/harness.htm

It has the multiple inside loops, stiffener, lining is soft (velvety) inside, waterproof heavy “horseblanket” material on the outside. I like mine a lot.

Someone on another list suggested hard sided luggage from a thrift store for harness. So thats what I did. I paid $12.00 for 3 pieces, the large one is on wheels. It works perfect for me and the dust wipes right off. LindaK

That’s a good one!

You know, I actually was thinking about that too! Although my saddle may be too big. But that’s definitely an option. I think I’m going to buy a harness bag, it would be cheaper in the long run.

Interesting about how aprons have changed over the years!

They often have darts, shaping over the hips, so you are not dealing with huge wads of material when seated.

I was thinking about this. I’m going to try making an apron with some excess cloth I have and fiddle with the dart placement. Luckily I like making darts!

Driving aprons and bags

Hello fellow drivers…I am a professional seamstress between teaching beginning driving, starting horses to drive and all the other things we do surrounding horse ownership. My business is called “Hats by Golly” … I have feaured my hats and driving aprons on EBay for several seasons until recently when I decided to relocate my life and my business.

I am up and running again with lots of lovely fabrics in stock and a few hats looking for new owners. Custom sizes, no problem, embroidered monograms, easy to do. Each apron is custom to you and your needs.

Happy to serve you… vbullockx2@gmail.com

Well I’ve been missing out all these years… I didn’t know there was such a thing as a harness bag!

I’ve never used one either. When I travel, I carry my harnesses in large cheap plastic storage tubs from K-Mart. Works great. At home my harness is hung on nice harness racks in my harness room. However it is subject to getting a thick layer of dust on it in just a matter of a day or two during dry spells (like now). And having just shelled out big bucks for new pairs harnesses as well as a new single harness, I’ve been thinking of maybe starting to take a little better care of it. I suppose I could just throw a sheet over it in the harness room during dry, dusty weather but I thought harness bags would look a little classier. And I might also use the harness bags when I travel, lose the cheap K-Mart tubs and just upgrade my image overall.:D:lol:

When mine’s in the harness room it’s either hung up on racks or else in bit plastic tubs.

If it’s being transported then it’s either hung up in the harness lockers (on 1 truck) or else put into a big hesian square sack (one for each horse) I use builders sacks… the sort that sand comes delivered in.

If it needs wrapping (good patent harness used only once a flood!) it’s put inside an old continental quilt cover and pillow cases.

Clearly I’m just a slob! I’m thinking it would cost me money to upgrade my image

And I am a Yorkshire farmer. My wife says my war cry is “HOWWWW MUCH!”

Most my travel is within an hour. I harness before I leave the house. That way I know I have everything I need. Ponies might as well carry the harness to the trailer as me. At home it is on the wall or in a big plastic tub. LF

harness storage

I store my harness in a plastic tub…keeps it dust free and mostly airtight and free from mold…also have a few full size soft sided suitcases that I bought at a yard sale…one was a giveaway, one was $1.00, they make great tack and harness storage… the wheels are great too …

Get creative …anyone else have a good idea? old pillowcases etc…they work great also …

Well one of my problems is that I’m a college student who lives in an itty bitty apartment. And lugging a harness and tack box around tends to get annoying. I’d rather have a nice bag I can pick up and carry around rather than a gigantic plastic tub.
