Making your own breeches - has anyone done this successfully?

People who are serious about sewing and aren’t sure about pattern/fit will do a mockup first in similar fabric (muslin or a cheap knit). That’s quite common.

Which fabric do you use for the Sun Shirts? I keep thinking I’ll try one and then can never decide which fabrics to use!

GirlGeek I got it at Rockywoods, Seattle Fabric or Rain Shed. I had to call and ask about it and I know the fabric I got was the last they had of it, but that was at least 2 years ago and they very well may have more. It would be even better if they have the most modern version that is more similar to the Tailored Sportsman fabric with the higher polyamide content. I perused the internet for HOURS when I was looking for it and ordered a ton of fabric samples before I found the right stuff.
@Foxlgove6 I somewhat disagree. Breeches really aren’t very hard to make. I will admit that my body type is rather easy to fit, but the stretch fabrics more commonly used for breeches are much easier to sew with than say a knit for a top. The tighter weave makes the fabric pretty forgiving. While breeches aren’t the easiest thing to start sewing, if you can sew a button and a zipper you are golden. Just takes time and practice. I use a regular machine and a serger, but a zig zag stitch on a regular machine will work. The SuitAbility directions (from what I recall) guide you as though you do no have a serger.
